Id Obits Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Id/FranklinObits/189 Surname: Mortenson, Bullen, Thompson, Laurence ------------------------- The Logan Herald Journal 08-15-2000 Alverda (Verdie) Thompson Bullen Mortenson Our sweet little mother, grandmother, and sister passed away of natural causes on August 13, 2000, at Sunshine Terrace at the age of 96. She was born August 5, 1904, in Whitney, Idaho, the third daughter in a family of eight children, to Walter George Thompson and Caroline Laurence. She attended schools in Whitney, Idaho, and Richmond, Utah. She married Newel Willis (Bill) Bullen December 6, 1922. He died Jan. 15, 1946. They were sealed in the Logan Temple September 25, 1986. Verdie married Laurel (Mike) Mortenson in 1974. He died May 11, 1986. Verdie worked with Bill on the Bullen family ranch in Lewiston, Utah, until the ranch was sold. Because of Bill's poor health, they owned and cared for a herd of sheep until his death. She had several jobs, finally working at the Sego Milk Canning Plant in Richmond until she retired. She loved to go to dances, travel, and spend time with her family and friends. She is survived by her three daughters, Colleen (Lewis) Webb, Soda Springs, Idaho; Diane (Dale) Weeks, Smithfield, Utah; Tess (Brent) Rasmuson, Smithfield, Utah. She is also survived by one sister, Irvene VanOrden, Ogden, Utah; 10 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, five sisters, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, August 16, in the Smithfield 2nd Ward, 175 S. 100 West, Smithfield, Utah, with Bishop Steven Merchant conducting. Friends may call at the church prior to the services from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richmond City Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Valley View Funeral Home of West Valley City, Utah. The family would like to thank the staff of Sunshine Terrace for their special care.
