Dr. Wilford Mark Smith, 82, of Boise, ID, passed away August 2 at his place of residence in Phoenix Arizona. Funeral services will be held on Monday August 8 at 11 a.m. in the Boise Idaho East Stake Center, located at 2290 Warm Springs Avenue. Bishop Craig O. Marti of the Boise Idaho East Stake, 1st Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate. Family will greet friends at the chapel from 9:30 until the time of the service. Graveside services will be held in Ogden City Cemetery, Ogden Utah, on August 8 at 10 a.m. Mark was born on April 24, 1918 at Preston, Idaho, a son of Wilford and Terese Thomas Smith. He was raised in Preston and Logan, Utah. He married Carol Oberhansley in the Logan LDS Temple. Following marriage they made their home in Portland while Dr. Smith attended dental school. He served in the US Naval Air at Alameda California during World War II, then practiced in Los Angeles until 1950 when he moved to Boise. He retired from dentistry in 1986. Mark was very active in his church where he served in several Priesthood callings. He was also active in numerous dental organizations. He served as President of the Idaho State Dental Association and later as Secretary-Treasurer for several years. He was a member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, The Wilshire Academy, Portland Dental study club, Pioneer Dental study group in Idaho, and the American Dental Association all his dental life. His many years in Scouting culminated in his receiving the Silver Beaver award. Survivors include his four children Susan Dianne Smith Kunz of Salt Lake City, Stephen Mark Smith and his wife RaeAnn Owen of Boise, Frank Reid Smith and his wife Kirsti of Phoenix Arizona, David Scott Smith and his wife Kimberly of Salt Lake City Utah, and 16 grandchildren.
