Born June 2, 1925 in Preston, ID a son of William Earl and Della Marie Nielsen Packer. Married LaWana Rigby Aug 30, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Eugene was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving as bishop of Forest Dale Ward and in the stake presidency of Taylorsville Central Stake. Served as a sealer in the Jordan River LDS Temple for 14 years. Served Temple Mission in Washington, D.C. with his wife. During World War II, Eugene served in the U.S. Navy. Worked 17 years in the Welfare Depart-ment of the LDS Church. Survived by his wife, LaWana, Taylorsville; children, Wesley (Renee) Packer, Gayle (Eric) Haag, Kalynn (Russell) Sedgwick, Renae (Phil) Walker; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Eva Hall. Preceded in death by son, Mark; parents; and two sisters. Services will be Wed. 12 noon Taylorsville LDS 30th Ward, 4950 S. 1950 W. Friends may call Tues. 5-8 p.m. McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S.
