He was born June 30, 1921, in Preston, Idaho, the son of Albert and Mary Peterson Porter. He married Fern Swainston on Sept. 23, 1942, in the Logan, Utah, Temple. He was a dairy farmer and he enjoyed all sports, especially baseball, golf, and bowling. He liked people. He enjoyed being with his family. He was a member of the LDS Church and served in various callings. He had a genuine interest in other people and was a good friend to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends who love him. He is survived by his wife, Fern, of Preston; four daughters and one son, Paulette Olekson, Las Vegas, Nev., Brent (Bonnie) Porter, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Jo Ann (Gary) Wiseman, Layton, Utah, Shelley (Paul) Campbell, Weston, Idaho, Tamara (John) Goodsell, Las Vegas, Nev.; 26 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; John LaVon (Clarice) Porter, Providence, Utah; Preston (Mildred) Porter, Boise, Idaho, and Fern Larson, Preston. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Howard, Charles, Ralph, Sewell, and Newell Porter; by two sisters, Clea and Laura, and by a granddaughter, Jill Wiseman. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, in the Preston 5th Ward chapel, 213 S. 200 East, with Bishop Layne Peterson conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Webb Funeral Home and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Whitney Cemetery.
