"Pat" Condie, 75, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2000, at Bannock Regional Medical Center. He was born February 5, 1925, in Preston, Idaho, to Parley M. and Mary H. Condie. He was the fourth of ten children. He was raised and educated in Preston. During those years he enjoyed great success as an athlete in track, football and basketball. After graduating from high school, Pat attended Utah State University, where he was an accomplished athlete and was president and international president of his fraternity, the Intercollegiate Knights. He earned a degree in Mathematics from Utah State and also gained the attention of Miss Helen Crowther, to whom he became engaged. After graduating from USU, Pat obtained a position as a Math Teacher at Tooele High School in Tooele, Utah. Helen also graduated and became a teacher at Provo High School in Provo, Utah. Helen and Pat were married in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple on July 22, 1950, and they were subsequently blessed with two children. During the years following his marriage, Pat taught school and also continued his own education and earned a master's degree in mathematics education. Later, he earned an additional Master's Degree in Science from the University of Idaho. in 1956 Pat and Helen moved to Pocatello. Pat taught Math at Pocatello High School until 1963 and then joined the faculty at Highland High School where he taught for 27 years. Pat loved his years of teaching at Highland and was devoted to his students and the school. He was very involved at HHS as an activity and class advisor, basketball referee and was the timing official for basketball and wrestling for many years. He attended and helped out at as many other school-related activities as he could possibly fit into his schedule. Pat was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Pocatello Teachers Credit Union shortly after its inception and served in that capacity for more than 35 years. He also served as President of the Pocatello Education Association and represented Highland High School at many Mathematics Education conferences around the region. He was a certified Driver Trainer for the school district and for the county. Pat was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership positions. Pat was a kind, generous man who was dedicated to his family, his school and to his church. He lived to be of service to those around him. Pat is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen; his daughter, Gwendalyn C. (Dana) Lloyd; his son, Steven N. Condie; three grandchildren, Justin, Ashley and Melanie Lloyd; a brother, DeLyle (Judy) Condie, Salt Lake City; a sister, Elizabeth (Fred) Haroldsen, Idaho Falls; a sister, Norma (RG) Lisonbee, Providence, Utah. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2000, at the Princeton Ward Building, 42 Princeton. The family will meet with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave., and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday. Interment will follow at the Malad City Cemetery.
