She was born February 19, 1925 in Preston, Idaho, a daughter of Harold and Rachel Salisbury Woodruff. On November 18, 1944, Viola married Leland Dale Saunders in Coeur D' Alene, Idaho. Leland preceded her in death on December 6, 1998. She had lived in Preston, Idaho and the Ogden area, graduating from Weber High School in 1943. Viola was a member of the Monte Vista LDS Ward. She had worked as a proof reader for the Standard-Examiner. Viola enjoyed camping, traveling and craft projects, especially ceramics. She was a member of the Ogden Community Choir and had contributed to the Utah Aids Foundation. Surviving are two sons and one daughter, Kim Dale Saunders, and Rodney Lee Saunders, both of Ogden; Vickie Jean Roberts, Plain City; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Viola is also survived by one brother and three sisters, Wayne (Kay) Woodruff, Hooper; Darlene (John) Hall-Anderson, Mesa, Ariz.; Arlene (Frank) Bingham, Blythe, Calif.; and Maxine Allred, South Ogden. She was preceded in death by one son, James, and one brother, Dale. Funeral services will be held at the graveside on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery. Friends may call at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Tuesday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
