He had suffered for about five years from Alzheimer's disease. Gareld was born October 4, 1908, to Hans and Sadie (Maughn) Nelson in Weston, Idaho. He was one of seven children. He married his sweetheart, Ruby Sophia Rasmussen of Mink Creek, Idaho, on April 26, 1933. She preceded him in death on March 15, 1986. He was active in the LDS Church, serving in a bishopric and various auxiliaries of the church He also loved doing temple work and home teaching. Gareld worked as a machinist at the Naval Ordnance Plant, and as a salesman for Clark Sewing Machines. He played the bass fiddle in dance bands, enjoyed fishing, and taking long walks with his sweetheart. He is survived by his three children, Klyne (Karleen) Nelson, South Jordan, Utah, Ronnie (Claude) Cleveland, Pocatello, Idaho, Blaine (Linda) Nelson, Kaysville, Utah; one sister, Beth Peterson, Idaho Falls, Idaho; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, November 11, 2000, at the Foothill Third Ward Chapel, 225 Oakwood Drive, with Bishop Glen Case officiating. The viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
