Id Obits Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Id/FranklinObits/245 Surname: Porter, Johnson, Brown ------------------------- The Logan Herald Journal 11-22-2000 PRESTON, Idaho - Dr. Reed Johnson Porter, 66, former Fairfax, Va., resident, passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at his home in Preston, Idaho, following a valiant battle with liver cancer. He was born March 29, 1934, in Provo, Utah, the son of Charles Nahum and Olive Anna Johnson Porter. He enjoyed athletics and during high school and college he won many football and track awards. He served in the Northern California LDS Mission from 1955-57. He married Donna Ruth Brown on Dec. 21, 1957, in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Reed loved helping people feel better about themselves and through his profession as a dentist, and through his church callings and personal activities, he was able to accomplish this. He received the Northern Virginia Dental Association Award of Excellence. He enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He was an Eagle Scout and received the Lifetime Friends of Scouting Award. He served in a variety of callings in the LDS Church, but he always favored working with youth. He is survived by his daughter, Lisanne Porter Bobby, Endwell, N.Y.; by his son, Garth Reed (Heather) Porter, Fairfax, Va.; grandchildren, Sommer Lin, Calvin Reed, and Ethan Michael Porter, all of Fairfax, Va.; and by two sisters, Margene (Alma) Wilson, Payson, Utah, and Patricia Ann Porter, Springville, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, in the Preston 10th Ward chapel, 155 N. 2nd West, with Bishop Lee Parker conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
