She was born Dec. 11, 1925, in Springville, Utah, the daughter of Jesse Amos and Grace Thorpe Brown. She attended schools in Ely, Nevada, and moved to California where she met and married her sweetheart, George Sylvester Whiting, on Sept. 22, 1947, in Pomona, California. Their marriage was sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple on Feb. 8, 1977. She lived in Jackson, Wyoming, Arizona, and St. George, Utah. She was a member of the LDS Church, having served as a Primary worker and in the Relief Society. She was a member of the BPW, the VFW Auxiliary, the Pink Ladies and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She loved to cook and garden. She made friends wherever she went. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by two sons and a daughter, George Sylvester (Vickie) Whiting II, Panguitch, Utah, Christina "Tina" (Glenn) Smedley, Preston, Curtiss Bradley (Leah Ann) Whiting, Preston; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; by a sister, Gerrie Pinckney, Orem, Utah; and by a brother, Dennis Schultz, Denver, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband, by her parents, and by two brothers, Neal Brown and Athole Judd. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, in the Preston South Stake Center, 55 E. 1st S., with Bishop Robert Miller conducting. Friends may call Sunday, Nov. 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, and Monday from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the stake center. Interment will be held Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 10 a.m. in the Washington, Utah, Cemetery.
