Id Obits Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Id/FranklinObits/232 Surname: Geddes, Alder, Nye, Gooch, Whitworth, Muir ------------------------- The Idaho State Journal 11-10-2000 SALT LAKE CITY - Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Marise Alder Whitworth Geddes, 76, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2000, at home. She was born January 8, 1924, in Preston, Idaho, to Orin J. Alder and Wanda Katie Nye Gooch. She was raised and adopted by Wanda and Francis Muir Whitworth in Bancroft, Idaho. She married David Darwin Geddes April 17, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She graduated from North Gem High School in Bancroft, Idaho, in 1942, St. Luke's Hospital and nurses' training school in Boise, Idaho, in 1945. She graduated from BYU with a B.S. degree in 1952, and master's degree from BYU in 1962. She worked as a psychiatric nurse both at Oregon State Hospital and Utah State Hospital as well as other nursing positions. She was involved with organizing the College of Nursing at BYU, and was a school nurse at the American School in Teheran, Iran in 1960-61. She was active in the LDS Church, and fulfilled leadership positions in Relief Society and Young Women, and her favorite, a teacher in Primary. She is well loved for her caring and unselfish acts of kindness, and has been a choice example to all who knew her. She was also known for her knowledge and enthusiasm of sports, and loved the Jazz. She is survived by three brothers, Louis Alder (Sue), Corona, Calif., Eugene Whitworth (Gloria), Blackfoot, Idaho, John Whitworth (Marie), Longmont, Colo.; two sisters, Florence Manwaring (Van), Rexburg, Idaho, June Shappart, Pocatello, Idaho; two children, Lee Anne Hartman, Sandy, Utah, Dave Geddes (Lana), Chelsea, Indiana; two grandsons, Christopher Hartman (Kirsten Powell), Beaumont, Texas, Eric Paul Hartman (LDS mission in Caracas, Venezuela). She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, David D. Geddes, her brother, Raymond Whitworth (Norma), Corona, Calif. Funeral services will be held today, Friday, November 10, 2000, 2 p.m., in the Highland Park Ward, 2535 S. Douglas Street (1240 East), Salt Lake City. Friends may call at the ward Friday from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Interment will be in Larkin Sunset Gardens, Sandy, Utah.
