Skidmore Nelson, 88, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, in the Beehive Homes Assisted Living Facility in Centerville, UT. She was born June 22, 1912, in Preston, Idaho, a daughter of William Alonzo and Ellen Marinda Monson Skidmore. She married Edwin Arnold Nelson April 24, 1931, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mrs. Nelson went to school in Brigham City, attending Box Elder High School. Following her marriage she lived in Salt Lake City and Smithfield, Utah, for over 65 years. She was a member of the Smithfield 3rd Ward until one year ago, where she had served in several positions including teaching and librarian. Interests included cooking, sewing, needlework and ceramics. She belonged to a literary club in Smithfield for many years. Survivors include a son, A. Clair (C. Suzanne) Nelson of Bountiful; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, a grandson, one brother and five sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, where friends may call from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Grave dedication will be at approximately 2 p.m. in the Richmond Cemetery.
