She was born on February 24, 1914 in Dayton, Idaho, a daughter of Leslie Bird and Edna Collett Howell. Maude married Rulon Stuart on December 21, 1932 in the Logan Temple. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1996. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had taught in the M.I.A., Sunday School, Primary, and the Relief Society where she had served in the Presidency for 14 years in Pocatello, Idaho, where she also helped her husband on their farm. Maude owned & operated Wells Pharmacy and Western Auto in Wells, Nevada. She retired and moved to Brigham City in 1977. Her greatest enjoyment was her family especially her grandchildren. Surviving are two children, LaMont (Yvonne) Stuart of Wells, Nevada; LuAnn (Robert) Adams of Brigham City, Utah; 9 grandchildren, Michael Stuart and his wife, Donna; Chris and her husband, John; Tena Larsen and her husband, Dough; Bobbie Ann Adams, Ben Adams and his wife, Jenny; Don Adams, Collette Adams; 16 great grandchildren, Mandy, Josh, Brooke, Ryan, Jessica, Daniel, Bobby, Lee, Destry, Austin, Adam, Robert, Alison. Also surviving is one brother, Ivan (Maggie) Howell of Ogden, Utah. Maude was preceded in death by her son, Phillip; one grandson, Eric; one brother, Claude and one sister, Beatrice. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. the Brigham City 17th LDS Ward Chapel, 139 East 300 North. Friends may call on Monday, February 18, 2002 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gillies-Petersen Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Pocatello, Idaho.
