He was born May 18, 1927, at Richmond, Utah, the son of LeRoy Thourpe and Mary Alice Barfuss Murray. He had lived at Preston, Idaho, Bancroft, Idaho, Smithfield, Utah, spending the majority of his life in Richmond, Utah, and Grace, Idaho. He married Janice Bjorkman October 6, 1950. She passed away March 15, 1953. He married Marian Longenbohn Sept. 8, 1956. They were later divorced. Duane married Florence Corrin Crowley October 24, 1976 at Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple April 16, 1983. Florence passed away December 28, 2000. He had served in World War II in the U.S. Navy. He worked in construction as a pipefitter. Duane was a member of the American Legion in Grace, and a member of the Caribou County Mounted Posse. His hobbies included camping, fishing, hunting and wood working. He is survived by three sons, a stepson and one daughter and one stepdaughter, Michael Murray, Bancroft, Idaho, Greg and Deanna Murray and Bruce and Cindy Murray, all of Soda Springs, Idaho, Albert D. and Mirna May, Salt Lake City, Utah, Robert E. and Donna May, Kaneohe, Hawaii, William R. and Lisa May, Salt Lake City, Utah, Brenda and Al Wyler, Soda Springs, Idaho, and Patricia and Rex Bowles, Anchorage, Alaska. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and 10 step-grandchildren and three sisters, Fonete and John Whittle, Richmond, Utah, Elona and George Cristofferson, Caldwell, Idaho, and Mary Lou and Scott Poulsen, Hurricane, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, his two wives, a daughter, Lisa Marie, and a grandson, Michael Jr. Murray. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 11, 2002, at noon at the Soda Springs LDS Stake Center, with Bishop Randy Hubbard officiating. Friends may call on Sunday evening, Feb. 10 at the Sims Funeral Home from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Monday at the stake center from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs, with military honors. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
