She was 100 years old. Born Aug. 1, 1901, to Reinhold and Amalie Kern in Rexburg, Idaho, she was raised in Preston, Idaho, with four sisters and one brother. She graduated from Oneida Academy before attending and receiving her teaching credentials from what was then Idaho Teacher’s College in Pocatello, Idaho. After a six-year teaching career in Swan Lake, Preston and Burley, Idaho, she married G. Wesley Schaub in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived in Morgan, Utah, where Mr. Schaub taught history and German and coached football and basketball. Their two oldest daughters were born during that time. In 1935, they returned to Logan and Mr. Schaub joined his father in the architectural firm of Karl Conrad Schaub and Son, which was the forerunner of Design West. Mrs. Schaub was always active n the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and contributed much to her ward and stake. This was a very important and cherished part of her life. She served as PTA president several times and worked on many school and civic committees. She had dear friends which she enjoyed well into her “golden years.” She adored her family and was a most generous and loving mother and grandparent. Her advice and council was continually sought and appreciated. She was a gracious homemaker and hostess and had a talent in oil painting, which earned her membership in the National Penn Women of America. Mrs. Schaub was preceded in death by her husband in 1968 and an infant daughter, Karen Rae, in 1934. Survivors include her two daughters, Karma Schaub (Keith Jacob) Nelson and Barbra”Babs” Schaub (Dale Hal) Pingree; and eight grandchildren, Kris Nelson (Steven) Faunce, Karen Nelson (Todd) Mckinnon, Kim Nelson (Mick) Kohler, Keith Jay (Joni) Nelson, Dale Scott (Karen) Pingree, James Wesley (Roxanne) Pingree, Jed Schaub (/) Pingree and David Conrad (Gretchen) Pingree; 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Schaub leaves a legacy of those things lovely, praiseworthy and of good report. Funeral services and a viewing will be held Wednesday Feb. 13, 2002, in the Logan 5th/18th Ward Chapel of the LDS Church at 502 E. 300 North. The funeral will be held at noon with a viewing at 11 a.m. Allen-Hall Funeral Home is directing arrangements.
