He died in Salt Lake City. He was born March 25, 1915, in Logan, Utah, the son of Richard Jr. and Tennie Anderson Owen. He grew up in Glendale, Idaho. He attended public school in Glendale and high school in Preston, Idaho. He graduated from the Utah Agriculture College in Logan, Utah, (now Utah State University) as valedictorian of his class. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Minnesota area. He served as a cook in the Army during World War II, where he was stationed in the Pacific. He married Dorothy Eliza McCotter in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were later divorced. He was the High Priest Group leader in his branch in Salt Lake at the time of his death. He is survived by two sisters and four brothers, Lila McCurdy, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Donald James Owen, Salt Lake City; Maurice Owen, Franklin, Idaho; Margaret Wayman, Ogden, Utah; Rulon (Evelyn) Owen, Logan; Lester (Dorothy) Owen, Preston; and by a brother-in-law, Dale C. Gough, Spokane, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Irene, Alice, Genevieve and Joyce Gough. Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, in the Preston 10th Ward Chapel, 155 N. 200 West, Preston, with Bishop Lee Parker conducting. Friends may call Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Evans & Early Mortuary, 574 E. 1st South, Salt Lake City, and Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church in Preston. Burial will be in the Preston Cemetery.
