Jarvis 05/02/02 Email this story to a friend PRESTON — Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mabel Lee Bish Jarvis, 83, former Sandy, Utah resident, passed away at her home on April 30, 2002, in Preston, Idaho. She was born to Albert and Naoma Fuller Bish in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Nov. 10, 1918. She married John M. Jarvis on June 16, 1954, in Reno, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She received her Red Cross nurse’s aide training during World War II, and worked at Miners Hospital in Nevada City, California. She was converted to the LDS Church, and always remained an active member. As an active Scout leader for over 30 years, Mabel received her Wood Badge training and also the Silver Beaver. She served as a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple and as a church service worker at the Bishop’s storehouse. The crowning point of her church service was serving two missions to the Philippines with her husband. She made many friends during her years as an Avon representative, where she made Presidential Club, and received her Mrs. Albee awards each year. She was preceded in death by her parents, by a baby sister, Inez, by a husband, Clarence T. Coffel, and by a grandson, James A. Jarvis. She is survived by her husband, John Jarvis, of Preston; her children, Shirley L. (Bill) George, Salt Lake City, Utah, Sandra M. Richards, Sacramento, California, Tommy B. (Sally) Jarvis, French Camp, California, Bruce W. (Denise) Jarvis, Clinton, Utah, J. Michael (Vickie) Jarvis, Marysville, Washington, David A. (Lorinda) Jarvis, Preston; 31 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston. An additional viewing will be held on Friday, May 3, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lake Hills Mortuary, 10055 S. State Street, Sandy, Utah. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4, at 11 a.m. at the Lake Hills Mortuary in Sandy, Utah. Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
