Author: AMHhenley Surnames: Ott, Christensen, Leffler, Burke Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.idaho.counties.franklin/2045/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The Idaho Statesman, 03/11/07 Clara Belle Ott passed away Thursday, March 8, 2007 in Oakley, Idaho at the age of 92 years and eight months ("and every month counts when you get to be my age!Ó) She was born July 9, 1914 at her Grandmother Leffler´s home in Lago, Idaho, the daughter of Annie Maria Leffler and Alma Hyrum Christensen. She spent her childhood in Thatcher, Idaho and Bingham Canyon, Utah. On February 26, 1934 she married Thomas James Burke in Salt Lake City, Utah and a son was born to them. They were later divorced. On April 13, 1943 she married Veryl Normington Ott in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They lived in Thatcher, Idaho for 5 years where a daughter was born to them. In 1947 they moved with the children and her parents to New Plymouth, Idaho which was her home for 50 years. In 1964 she got her High School Equivalency then took college courses in Library Sciences at the Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Oregon. After completion of these courses, she was given a library posi! tion at that college which pleased her because that allowed her the money to support her daughter who was serving an LDS mission at that time. She later became the New Plymouth City Librarian where she served for several years until her retirement. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several positions including the New Plymouth Ward Relief Society President, Primary teacher, ward librarian, a member of the ward choir and many others. She loved music and played the violin and the Hawaiian guitar. She also served as Cub Scout leader for several years and it was a source of enjoyment for her to spend time with those boys. Veryl passed away in 1997 and she later sold her home and moved to a retirement center in Boise to be near her son and other family members. In July of 2003 she moved to Rockhaven Retirement Center in Oakley, Idaho and then for the past 15 months had resided with her granddaughter and family of Oakley. Fa! mily members who preceded her in death include her parents, her two si sters and one brother, her husband and one granddaughter. Those left to remember her with love and appreciation are her son, Wayne A. (Darline) Burke of Boise, Idaho, her daughter, Winona Ott (Raymond) Solomon of Mesa, Ariz., her grandchildren Gayla (Herb) Wilson, Cheralyn (Chris) Auth, and Kevin (Dit) Burke all of Boise, Janell (Steve) Raber of Mountain Home, Lynette (Alan) Hale of Oakley, Heidi (Blaine) Hanks of Bartlesville, Okla., and DaNae Beebe of Idaho Falls. She also has 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the Oakley 2nd Ward at 301 N. Center Ave. in Oakley at 1 p.m. Visitation with the family will be at noon before the services. Graveside services and burial will be Wednesday, March 14 in New Plymouth, Idaho at the Parkview Cemetery at 1 p.m. Services are under the direction of Hansen Mortuary Burley Chapel.
