She was born April 4, 1916, in Hagerman, Idaho, the seventh of 10 children born to James Henry and Sarah Elizabeth Hurd Dixon. Leah was raised in the small community of Manard, outside of Fairfield, Idaho. She attended college in Pocatello, Idaho, and there met her future husband, Theron B. (Ick) Porter. They were married in Pocatello July 29, 1937. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple in November 1942. After her husband returned from serving in the Army during World War II, they settled in Preston, Idaho, his hometown. There, their two daughters were born, Kathleen (Katie) and Robyn. They moved to Pocatello in 1953, and stayed there until her husband passed away. Leah worked most of her life except when her children were young. She helped her husband with the family business for many years. She also worked for Dr. Porter Sutton. She was active in the LDS Church all her life, and held many positions there. She is survived by daughter, Robyn (Brad) Jensen; five grandchildren, Melissa (Tim) Kammeyer, Tiffany (Nick) Harris, Derek S. (Christi-Marie Butler) Jensen, Jeremy Jensen, Lucas (Jaime) Jensen; six greatgrandchildren, Quinn and Katie Kammeyer, Lyric and Derek Jensen, Kyra and Caden Harris; and her three younger siblings, Gwen, Dick, and Ken. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband in 2000, and daughter Kathleen in 1988, her parents and six older siblings, Lynn, Ressa, Ray, Louise, Verl, and Ralph. Funeral services will he held in Preston, Idaho Monday, April 30, 2007, at the Preston North Stake Center, 310 North State Street, at 1 p.m. Friends may call Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Webb Funeral Home in Preston, Idaho. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
