She was born March 15, 1920, at Fielding, Utah, the daughter of Mark Minnion and Alice Dalton Leavitt. She graduated from Bear River High School. She married Milton R. Smith September 15, 1938, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. He passed away April 20, 1999. Alice was a member of the Thatcher LDS Ward. She had served in both the ward and stake Young Women's programs; taught Relief Society; was an ordinance worker on Group 6 at the Logan LDS Temple for over 20 years. She served on the Grace School Board; Caribou County Fair Board for many years; Farm Bureau committees; also state women's president of Farm Bureau. She enjoyed writing, poetry, card games, crafts and keeping in touch with family and friends. Alice is survived by one son and two daughters and their spouses, Brad (Lela) Smith, Thatcher, Idaho, Loy Raye Phillips, Grace, Idaho, and Peggy (Walter) Rosdahl, Smithfield, Utah; also 10 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ray Byron Rosdahl. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 23, at noon at the Thatcher LDS Ward Chapel, with Bishop Steve Smith officiating. Friends may call on Sunday evening, April 22, at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs from 7 to 8 p.m. and on Monday at the Thatcher Chapel from 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Thatcher Cemetery. The family suggests donations may be made to the LDS Temple Building Fund or the Missionary Fund. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
