She was born June 21, 1922, at Thomas, Idaho, the daughter of Victor Anthony and Myrtle Horton Peterson. June married Charles C. Izatt June 30, 1943, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Mr. Izatt passed away September 17, 1994. June was raised and educated in Preston, Idaho, moving to Thatcher in 1943. She received her bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from ISU, with a certificate in special ed in 1988. She had taught school at Thatcher Elementary, Soda Springs and special ed at the junior high in Soda Springs, and in Bancroft in the special ed elementary program. June had also been the Thatcher Ward building custodian for over 20 years. She was a member of the Thatcher LDS Ward, and had served in various positions through the years. She had been a 4-H leader in sewing with her children. She also enjoyed gardening and her grandchildren. June is survived by a son and three daughters, David and Terri Izatt, Elko, Nev., Ruth and Ron Beck, Green River, Wyo., Molly and Claude Zobell, Bartlett, Tenn., and Loa Dawn and Blake Allen, Soda Springs; also surviving are 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margie and Deverl Peterson, Dillon, Mont. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Charles, a granddaughter, Kacia Marie Peterson, a brother, Vaughan Peterson, and a sister, Myrle Brostrom. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 6, at 1 p.m. at the Thatcher LDS Chapel, with Bishop Tod Jensen officiating. Friends may call on Saturday at the Thatcher chapel from 10:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Thatcher Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home, Soda Springs.
