Author: AMHhenley Surnames: Bosworth, Schuenmann, Hamilton Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.idaho.counties.franklin/2038/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Deseret Morning News, 03/07/07 UPTON, UTAH- Dr. Wayne Dean Bosworth quietly slipped through the veil to the peace and comfort of our Heavenly Father's presence the morning of March 5, 2007 in a joyous reunion, greeted by his parents Arnold Wayne and Gertrude Schuenmann Bosworth and his granddaughter-in-law, Donita, her two little ones, Dakota and Sierra Smith and granddaughter Jennalee Hinze who preceded him in death. He was born January 19, 1928 in Preston, Idaho to goodly parents who taught him the value of hard work, family togetherness, and church service. His loyalty to our country was shown by his service as a Quartermaster with the Navy from 1946-1948, on the destroyer U.S.S. Hansen 832, patrolling the Pacific Ocean as well as the Yellow Sea near China. As an active member of the LDS Church, he served valiantly in the Spanish-American Mission from 1949-1952. He became fluent with the Spanish language which was a blessing in his medical practice. A beautiful brunette, Marlene Hamilton, caught his eye in Sunday School the summer of 1953, and they became devoted, eternal sweethearts in the Idaho Falls Temple August 21, 1953. Initially, he studied at Utah State Agricultural College completing his pre-med requirements in just three years. Then he was accepted at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois graduating in 1958 with his MD. His Internship was at LDS Hospital 1958-1959. His Residency was done at the old Dee Hospital in Ogden 1959-1961. His first practice was at the Tanner Clinic in Layton as a General Practitioner/ Surgeon from 1961-1976. He solved a great need in the community of the North Summit area when he relocated his private practice to Coalville, December of 1976. He fell in love with the area and his Willow Bend Ranch, riding his horse in tending to his herd of cattle while enjoying the wide open country that surrounded his little piece of heaven in Upton, Utah. It would be impossible to count the m! any lives he touched with not only his medical skills, but also his deeply caring and compassionate bedside manner that only a genuine "Country Doc" possesses. There were many nights that those cowboy boots echoed up and down the hallways of the old Summit County Hospital giving emergency care and delivering new lives into the world. He was committed to continuing education, and was highly respected in the medical community. He also gave freely of his time as a member of the Davis County Search and Rescue, as a lifetime member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, also serving as their President, and in 1989, received a Country Doctor Award, and was also nominated on a National Level as Country Doctor of the Year in 1999. He was an accomplished musician, playing the violin and clarinet, and being self taught on the guitar and harmonica. A favorite song the grandkids all loved was "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly," and they were a captive audience each time! he performed it. Through all of these ventures he found the time to s erve his Lord and be an enduring example to his family as Bishop of the Upton Ward from 1978-1984. He and his beloved companion Marlene served in the Ogden Utah Mission in 2003 as the resident physician for the missionaries. Even as cancer ravaged his earthly temple, he chose to endure that suffering by taking part in an experimental chemotherapy treatment program under Dr. Vincent Hansen's direction, so that the studies there derived could further benefit future generations. He remained selfless to the very end of his mortality. Dr. Bosworth is survived by his eternal sweetheart Marlene, sisters Shirley (LaMar) Hansen, Judy Fredrickson, Ruth Lemon, his seven children and their spouses, Colleen (Val) Hinze, Gayle (Ben) Argyle, Arnold (Melanie) Bosworth, Michael (Lynette) Bosworth, Cathy (Jeff) Louder, Fred (Lisa) Bosworth, his sweet angel Becky Sue Bosworth, and an extended posterity of 29 grandchildren and 21 great-grand-children. Funeral Services will be held Fri., March 8, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Coalville Utah Stake Center, 40 North Main. Friends and family may call Thursday, March 7, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Kaysville cemetery at 3:00 p.m. where Dr. Bosworth will be laid to rest next to his beloved parents. A special thanks to Dr. Vincent Hansen and his medical staff for the professional and human touch added to Dr. Bosworth's care.
