She was born May 19, 1922, in Los Animos, Colo., to Homer Lee and Ines Dawson Shafer. She married Elmer Collier Kaiser on Aug, 10, 1947, in Willington, Calif. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. Margaret loved flying and obtained her pilot's license at a young age. She was a savvy business woman and owned her own dress boutique in California. She was a licensed beautician and loved volunteering in many capacities. She and Al were both recognized for their volunteer work with the school reading program and also for their work involving the Meals on Wheels program. She was a member of the LDS Church and served in various callings, including the secretary of the Relief Society. She is survived by her two sons, Michael (Kim) Kaiser, of Caldwell, Idaho; Jeff (Connie) Kaiser, Monument, Colo.; five grandchildren, Cassandra, Talia, Jacob, Olivia and Max, a sister, Helen Smith of Livermore, Calif., and her "Almost Daughter" Vicki Peacock, Litchfield Park, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Al, a sister, and two brothers. Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at 12 noon in the Preston 10th Ward Chapel, 155 North 200 West, in Preston, with President Doug Roper conducting. Although we mourn her passing, we rejoice in her reunion with her husband, Lee Evan Olsen, whom she married on April 28, 1944 in the Salt Lake Temple; her parents, John A. and LaVerne Olson Carver; and her brothers and sisters, Terrell, Murray, Helen, and Judith. Anna graduated from Boise High and in 1965 from Brigham Young University. She taught in the Davis School District and was active in the Farmington Lady Lions, Aurelia Rogers DUP Camp, and served as a Farmington election judge for many years. She loved to read, travel, sew, knit sweaters, and spend time with her family and friends. She served faithfully throughout her life in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1981-82, Anna and Lee served a mission to the Washington, D.C. Temple Visitor's Center. After Lee'! s death on December 3, 1986, Anna served as a hostess at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building until her health would no longer permit it. She will be forever remembered for her cheerful and positive disposition and love of everyone she met and served. Anna leaves behind four children, Marilyn Reed (Gary) of Bountiful; Richard (Mickie) of Independence, Missouri; LeAnn Bushnell (Richard) and Rodney (Annette) of Layton; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John and Monroe; and one sister, LaVerne Buckmaster. Our family wishes to thank Country Care Assisted Living in Farmington for their loving care of Mom. We especially thank her caregiver, Dawn, for her devoted attention to Mom as she valiantly battled crippling dementia. Funeral services for Anna will be held on December 18, 2007, 11:00 a.m., at the Farmington 1st Ward, 272 N. Main, Farmington, Utah. Viewings will be held on Monday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Farmington Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N. He was born June 13, 1937 in Preston, Idaho to Thomas Dermont and Hildred (Day) Olsen. He graduated from Boise Senior High School in 1955, and during his high school days, he enlisted in the Army National Guard where he completed training from 1952-1955. Dennis was then honorably discharged in 1962. He worked for Good Year Tire for a few years before starting his career with King Construction; building bridges and overpasses from Boise to Twin Falls for ten years. During this time, he learned a career and compassion for bridge construction and his skills were unsurpassed by most people. A & R Construction is where he made his way up the ladder, until he became a superintendent, where he built bridges all over the Northwest area, including White Bird Bridge and the Salmon River. Dennis retired from A & R Construction and will be missed by all that knew and loved him. He touched many hea! rts with his wisdom and knowledge. Dennis married Joannn Carson in 1959 and the two were divorced in 1972. He later met the love of his life, Darlene Rasmussen, and they were wed in 1973. They just celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary this year. Dennis was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was ordained a Deacon in 1949 and an Elder in 1956. He lived his life by following the steps of Jesus Christ. Oley enjoyed life by quarter horse barrel racing, being a rodeo clown, raising cows, playing his harmonica and was a Golden Glove boxer. He had a great passion and love for singing, telling stories and playing jokes. Surviving family members include his wife, Darlene Olsen; sisters, Lynn Morse, Djon Talbot, Maryann Marion and Joan Maisey; children, Lody Glyn Jones, Gina Olsen, Wayne Olsen, Andy Mays, Eddie Mays, Cliff Mays and Debbie Sutton; grandchildren, Kelli Jo, Cody, TJ, Michael, Amanda, Kristopher, Brandin and Eian; and great-grand! daughters, Rylei and Bailey. He was preceded in death by his p! arents a nd sister, Larae Olsen. Viewing will be Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007 from 12-3 p.m. at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home. He graduated from McCammon High School and then served in the military during World War II. After returning from the service, he was a salesman for Zellerbach Paper Company. He married Shanna L. Ricks in August of 1979, and started to work at Ricks College in 1980. He was an avid golfer, bowler and loved to spend time fishing on the North Fork of the Snake River. He loved to do woodworking and made many gifts for family and friends. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and Shanna served a service mission at the Rexburg Family History Center. He is survived by his wife, of Rexburg; children, Gordon (Cindy) Henderson, Janet (Frank) Robles of Tucson, Arizona, Marianne (Rod) Smith, Sheryl Fulton of Palm Springs, California, Claudia (David) Meiners of Phoenix, Arizona; stepchildren, Arden (Connie) Ricks, Lael (Larry) Miller, Teresa (Jeff) Brewer, Louise (Shane) Ricks, Julie McCowan; 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was just nearly 50 years young. Karen was born on December 14, 1956, in Prince George, British Columbia, and raised in Alberta by her loving parents, LaVern and Merle Still. While attending Rick's College she met the greatest love of her life, Daniel E. Koller, and they were wed on February 16, 1979, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Dan was not only her eternal companion but her best friend and confidante. Dan and Karen raised their precious family in Weston, Idaho. Her family is very dear and precious to her. She will be missed greatly by all, but will continue to watch over us. She had many interests and talents. She especially enjoyed working with wood, creating furniture and railings. She worked in the building/home improvement industry for many years, and later at the Cleaning Center in Logan, Utah. She gained many lifelong friends, as she had a great love for people, and it gave her much enjoyment when she could be of help. Karen enjoyed serving in her many church callings in the Weston First Ward. She especially loved working with the Primary children in music. She enjoyed and appreciated all the many friends and associates in Weston who have helped and inspired her throughout her years here. She would love to thank each and every one. Karen loved her life and appreciated the more than 21 years she was able to survive her first battle with cancer. She was grateful for the time to raise her children and spend more time with her dear husband, Dan. If, by chance, you saw one, you knew that the other was close by. Karen is survived by her husband, Daniel E., of Weston, Idaho; her children, Amie M. (Rich) Mackay of S. Weber, Utah, Daniel R. of Logan, Joseph (Melissa) of Logan, Utah, and Jessica A. of Pocatello, Idaho; and her precious grandchildren, William and Kaitlyn Mackay of S. Weber, Utah. Waddoups, 48, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at the home of his daughter in Tremonton, Utah. He was born Nov. 4, 1959, in Preston, Idaho, the son of Wayne and Marilyn Waddoups and foster son of Brent and Ruth Fluckiger. He Married Kim Valentine on Dec. 27, 1985, in Providence, Utah. They were later divorced. Melvin lived in Logan, Utah, then later moved to Providence, Utah, Bountiful, Utah, and was currently living in Kelso, Wash., where he recently moved to in order to further his education and go back to school to become a drug and alcohol counselor. Melvin went to Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah, where he played both offense and defense for the football team and was also a part of the high school wrestling team. Melvin later took advanced welding classes where he become an expert welder. He enjoyed camping, water and snow skiing and having family gatherings. Melvin loved the outdoors and would often take his kids fishing knowing exactly what fish he could catch from what streams. Melvin was a member of the LDS Church. He is survived by his children, Kyle Wayne Waddoups (fiancé Heather) of Sunset, Utah, Tyler Clint (Jana) Waddoups of Dugway, Utah, and Vanessa Ranae Waddoups of Tremonton, Utah; one grandson, Dax Tyler Waddoups; parents and foster parents, Wayne and Marilyn Waddoups and Brent and Ruth Fluckiger; brothers and sisters, Jay (Diane) Waddoups, Jeff (Rhonda) Young, Marvin Fluckiger, Brenda (Mike) Martin, Misty (Chris) Vaterlaus, Travis (Lorinda) Fluckiger, Shauni (Mark) Bodily, Crystal (Tim) Rawlings and Susan (Keith) Baumann; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was an active member of the LDS church and enjoyed service as a Home Teacher, Young Men's Leader, Dance Instructor and Scout Leader. He loved spending time outdoors with family and friends camping, fishing and hunting. He retired from Eutectic Welding after 32 years of service as a distribution center manager. Surviving him is his loving wife Bettie Lou Lloyd, Kamas; sons: Ron (Jerry Lyn) Lloyd, Manti, UT; Gary (Sharene) Lloyd, North Salt Lake City, UT; Paul (Ruth Ann) Lloyd, Francis, UT, and daughters, Julie (Craig) Christensen, Sandy, UT; and Linda (Mark) Harwood, Eagle Mountain, UT. Darlene was born in Ogden, Utah, on Nov. 13, 1933, to Lyman and Abbie Purser. She grew up in Preston, Idaho, graduating from Preston High School. She married Quinn R. Bair on May 23, 1951, in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in Lewiston, Utah, where she was a loving mother of her six children. In 1965, she started working for the Lewiston Elementary School lunch part-time so it wouldn't take away from her family. In 1972, they moved to Caldwell, Idaho, where she started working for the Caldwell School District, first as a cook, then as a manager for 27 years. Darlene was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She gave many years of service as a primary teacher, a counselor and teacher in the Young Women's organization, in the Relief Society presidency and as a homemaking counselor. Service was her middle name. What an example she was to all who knew her. Darlene may have retired from the Caldwell School District, but she never did retire from giving love and compassion or serving others. She gave endless hours of service at the church fruit farm. Her love of sharing her bountiful garden, her scrumptious baked goods and delicate, fine crocheted work was shared by everyone she knew. Some of her joys included playing games with her family, the simple purr of a kitten and feeding her best friends, the squirrels. Darlene was loved by all who knew her. Her faith, example and love are missed already. She is survived by her loving husband, Quinn; five children, Kathy (Clair) Hibbard of Providence, Utah, LaNae (Michael) Beckstead of Idaho Falls, Stanley (Becky) Bair, Steven (Charlene) Bair and Lloyd (Christine) Bair all of Caldwell; four sisters, Ruth Owens, Gail Woodall, Josie Mae Purser and Joann Ezola; two brothers, Gordon Purser and Sterling Purser; 23 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter; and four brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Middleton Stake Center, 23644 Old Hwy 30, Middleton, with Bishop Derik Hubert conducting. Gus loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed building stuff which ranged from anything to everything. He liked having farm animals. He was a high priest in the LDS Church, where he served in the bishopric, Sunday school, and was a home teacher. He had a great love of family and loved his grandkids very much. He was a store manager at the Franklin County Grain Growers, where he made many friends. He was born on July 19, 1918, in Des Moines, Iowa to John Boyd and Geraldine Stanley Stevens. He married his sweetheart Dorothy Mildred Price on Aug. 2, 1945, in Spring Valley, New York. John was involved in many activities throughout his life. He was a member of the Masonic Masons, and served as the Park Commissioner for California where he worked with youth building radio controlled boats, planes, and cars. He served in the bishopric, and also the scouting program for many years, and was a decorated WWII veteran. He worked as a mechanical engineer and also as a watchmaker. He always enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and watching sports, especially the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was very adept at repairing watches and clocks as well as building models and radio controlled vehicles. He was a very kind person and a friend to everyone he met. One of his favorite things to do was to cook for his grandkids which he did every chance he could. He is survived by his daughters, Joyce Sant of Clifton, and Karen (Charles) Monroe of Texas; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his parents; and a son-in-law, John Sant. Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, in the Clifton 2nd Ward Chapel with Bishop Wayne Smart conducting. Gwen married George W. Sheppard on June 13, 1932, in Pocatello. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1982. She had been employed by National Laundry and Cleaners, also working for Turner Insurance Company as a secretary/ underwriter and as owner and operator of the Diet Center in Pocatello for many years until ill health forced her to retire. Gwen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in the Relief Society and various other positions. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Gwen enjoyed square dancing, walking, swimming, and was an avid reader. She is survived by a daughter, Sondra (Willie) Wilson, Arco, Idaho; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Callan (Marilyn) Phillips, Paul, Idaho; five sisters, Geraldine (Ron) Barker, Salt Lake City, Utah, Barbara Pattee, American Falls, Idaho, Afton Sielaff, Alpine, Utah, Thelma Page, Firth, Idaho, and Beth Gray, also of Idaho Falls. She graduated from Preston High School with honors and attended the University of Utah. She met and married Arthur Jack Kirkham on March 3, 1942 and they moved to Long Beach where she drove a Red Cross ambulance during World War II. She helped develop AAA Tent and Awning Company (Kirkhams Outdoor Products) and actively participated in the business for 30 years. Elna lived a life of service to her family, church and community. She was an excellent cook and homemaker. The door was always open with room for everyone at the family table. Elna was a devout member of the LDS church. She served in many capacities including president of the Primary, Relief Society and the Young Women's Organizations. She worked in the Outreach for Unwed Mothers Program for eight years. She! was also an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Elna was actively involved in the development of Murray City. She served on various boards including Parks and Recreation, Hospital and Library. Elna was involved in politics with a passion. For many years her home was the polling place for her district. She was the first woman elected to the Murray City Council in 1981 and was selected Murray City "Woman of the Year" in 1983. Elna is survived by her husband, Jack; her children, Kathy (Scott) Lombardi, Carol Mathews Goulais, and Jack (Cheryl) Kirkham Jr.; her grandchildren Theresa Smith, Tony Smith, Neal Smith, Matt (Natalie) Mathews, Jennifer (David) Sasich, Amanda Bilanzich, Allison Goulais, Kerrie (Matt) Turvey and Cammie Kirkham; and great grandchildren Caitlin Bilanzich and Zachary Sasich. Nielsen, passed away at her home in Nampa on Nov. 24, 2007, at the age of 79. Our mother was born April 27, 1928, at her family home in Franklin, Idaho, to Agnes Ruth White Parkinson and Roland Hobbs Parkinson. She was the youngest of three girls, the oldest being Ruth Marion and the middle sister Barbara Jane. Our mom graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond, Utah, and attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah. She was a lifelong learner and an avid reader. Her love of learning and reading was a gift to her children as they followed her example. Mom met and fell in love at first sight with a handsome young sailor from Lewiston, Utah, LaMar C. Nielsen. They were married on March 20, 1947, in the Logan LDS Temple. Our parents then went to Omaha, Neb., where our father was accepted into dental school at Creighton University in 1948. In 1952 after our dad finished school, our parents moved to Burley, Idaho, where Dad began to practice dentistry. They lived in Burley for 45 happy years where Mom was very active in community and church activities, local and state garden clubs and where she and Dad made many wonderful life long friends. Our mother was a very talented and creative lady. She was a remarkable gardener and always had a beautiful yard full of flowers wherever she lived. She was a beautiful lady who loved her husband and family dearly. They in turn cherished her. She had a great sense of humor. She loved to entertain friends and family and she loved holidays. She always made them memorable for her family and friends. Her family was one of her most cherished gifts. She was a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including serving a mission with Dad in 1985 in the Bismarck, N.D., area. Our mother is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. LaMar C. Nielsen of Nampa, Idaho; her sister, Marion Lien of Ogden, Utah; daughters, Suzanne (Wes) Goible of Caldwell, Idaho, Laurie (Alan) Christensen of Menan, Idaho, Terri (Tom) Zimmer of Brookings, Ore.; and sons, Tracy L. (Iris) Nielsen of Logan, Utah, and Todd C. Nielsen of Meridian, Idaho. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, in the Nampa 18th Ward LDS chapel, 2212 Amity Road, Nampa. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N. Midland Blvd. Nampa, and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church prior to services. She has 13 grandchildren & 6 great-grandchildren. While here upon this earth she held many positions in the church, had a great love of serving others and enjoyed regularly attending the Temple. Her hobbies included: embroidery, letter writing, canning, bingo, fishing, camping and had a special love for animals. She is the oldest of 15 children and was preceded in death by her parents & 5 brothers: Arlo Joseph, Ira, Floyd, Lanny and Marlin. Treva was born June 24, 1924 in Fairview, Idaho, the third child of Oliver James Choules and Myrtle Irene Thompson. She was raised in Preston, where she and her sisters worked on the family farm. She attended school at Preston and graduated in 1942. She loved to play sports and was on the high school basketball team. This love of sports stayed with her throughout her life as she encouraged and participated with her husband, children, and grandchildren in various sporting activities. She particularly enjoyed bowling, golfing, and walking. On June 24, 1943, she married her high school sweetheart, Denton Joseph Hall, and on July 5, 1957 they were sealed to each other in the Logan Temple. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a homemaker and enjoyed making her home a haven for her six children. On Jan. 8, 1971, her husband passed away! . Treva then went to work at Baird Oil Company until she retired. Treva loved caring for the needs of her family. She especially enjoyed cooking large family meals and having her family around her. Her grandchildren always looked forward to her famous homemade dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls, and fudge. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Treva is survived by her six children, Joe Marie (Wayne) Cheney, Mike (Linda) Hall, Bob (Karen) Hall, Kathy (Kim) Ward, Donna Hall, and Roy (Martha) Hall; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Guelda Clayson, Deon Saunders, Dineen Eberhard; along with many nieces, nephews and many other loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Max Choules; and her sister, Joyce Bowles. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 26, 2007 at Relyea Funeral Chapel. Born in Fairview, Idaho, Feb. 8, 1923 to Elaine and Welland Smith, Twila was the oldest of five children. She married Max Gardner Abbott of Bunkerville, Nevada on July 8, 1943 in the Logan Temple. ADVERTISEMENT They had three children. Twila was Secretary to the Commanding Officer of the Naval Training School in Georgia, a reporter and photographer for the Milford (Utah) News, director of the University Steno Pool at Auburn University in Alabama, Publisher for the League of Women Voters and Executive Secretary to Oregon State Senator Betty Brown. In 1967, she ran the Lane County Democratic Campaign Headquarters, coordination with the Bobby Kennedy campaign as he came through Oregon for the Presidential Primaries. Her church callings included chorister, pianist and young women's leader. Twila had a beautiful voice and love singing duets with her husband, Max. They often sang for funerals and weddings. She was a soloist for the professional women's choir, The Chansonettes, in Chicago. She spoke fluent Spanish, a contributing factor to their decision for Max to accept a Fulbright Scholarship to teach in Mexico, where they lived for sixteen months. Twila had an indomitable spirit. She was adventurous, courageous, curious and very funny. She was a great storyteller. She made life-long friends wherever she went. She was fiercely loyal and supportive of her family and friends. She never accepted that anything was impossible: "can't" wasn't in her vocabulary. Twila was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Iva Lou Herd and Gale Marie Smith, and her brother, Robert Olson Smith. She is survived by her husband, Max, her children Christine (Darryl) Morrison, Steve (Judy) Abbott and Rebecca (Rollo) VanHoak, by her grandchildren Christian Morrison, Arianna Diaz and Isabella Mann and by her sister, Glenda Nelson. Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 26th at 11 a.m. at LDS Chapel of the Washington Fields First Ward. She was born in Lewiston, Utah, February 23, 1910, the second of nine children born to George Amos and Roxie Zelnora Dopp Bronson. Reta graduated from Preston High School. Several years later, she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she met and married David Ellwood Newman, April 19, 1940. They lived most of their lives in Holladay where they raised six children: Gary (deceased) (Virginia) Bronson, Kerrville, Texas; Jim (deceased) (Eleanor) Newman, Salt Lake City; Dee Ann (Dick) Gunther, Salt Lake City; Larry (Louvonne) Newman, Ogden, Utah; Stephen Newman, Mt. Home, Arkansas, and Jill Newman (deceased). Well known for her beautiful flowers and large vegetable garden, Reta enjoyed gardening and kept a beautiful yard. She loved to travel and visited Europe, Hong Kong, Alaska, Hawaii and extensively throughout the United States. A wonderfully versatile and adventurous wom! an, there isn't much she hasn't tried. She was boating, snow mobiling, river rafting and four wheeling well into her 90's. Active in the LDS Church and DUP, she served as a Welfare Church Service Missionary. Her wit and wisdom has won her many dear and close friends over the years. Reta has had an active role in the lives of her 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild who enjoyed her sense of humor, her fun family stories, traditional backyard barbecues, holiday celebrations and many fun memories they have made with her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Angus, Paul and Dee Bronson; sisters Glenda Nelson, Miriam Golightly and Delpha Rasmussen; two sons and one daughter. She is survived by three of her children; one sister, Melba Ward; and one brother, Dow Bronson. The family wishes to express appreciation and love to Jodi Gunther for the long term care and companionship she provided, especially being there with Mom a! t her passing.
