He was born November 24, 1913, at Thatcher, Idaho, the son of David Joshua and Ivy Lucy Thompson Coombs. He was raised and educated in Thatcher. He lived in Thatcher until 1989, when he moved to Arimo, Idaho, moving to Arizona in October 2005. He married Geneal Stone April 28, 1945, in Soda Springs, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Geneal passed away August 2, 1988. He married Gaynell Morley in 1989 at Arimo, Idaho. She passed away in 1992. He married Virginia Bennett in January of 1994, at Arimo, Idaho. She passed away December 2004. He had worked in the cheese factory in Thatcher, and as custodian in the Thatcher school for many years. He had worked on various ranches. During World War II he worked for the railroad in Ogden, Utah. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ruben and Geneal played in a band called the "Moonlighters." While in Arimo he played drums in a band at the senior citizens' center. Ruben is survived by a son, Curtis and Sharman Coombs, Maricopa, Arizona; and stepson, Neale Walton, Thatcher, Idaho. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 23 greatgrandchildren and one sister, Millie Wood, Torrance, California. Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, March 27, at 2 p.m. at the Lago Cemetery in Lago, Idaho. The family will meet friends at the Thatcher-Williams Ward Chapel on Thursday from noon to 1:30 p.m. prior to leaving for the cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home. He attended Utah State University and was employed with the BLM. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 8th Army Air Corps. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, North Logan 5th Ward. He is survived by his children, two sons and two daughters, Pam Dabbs, Tremonton, Utah, Bryon Duane Kropf, (Rosie) Hyrum, Utah, Steven Nelson Kropf (Diane), Wellsville, Utah, Denise Berntson, North Logan, Utah; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren with one on the way; two sisters, Delma Westover, Quinncey, Wash., and Rea Austin (Joe), Mapleton, Utah. Preceded in death by his wife, Beth; parents; Doris Smout, sister; Trevor Gonzales, great-grandson; Mahala Foster, great-great-granddaughter; and Casey Foster, great-great-grandson. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at the North Logan 5th Ward chapel, 2750 N. 800 East. Mendenhall, 80, took his last breath surrounded by his family at his home on Wednesday, March 12, 2008. He was born June 28, 1927 in Preston, Idaho, to Thomas Alva and Mildred Jensen Mendenhall. He graduated from Ogden High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. On May 29, 1948, Keith married Shirley Hartley. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1964. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a Scout Master, Stake Missionary and Stake Mission President. He and Shirley served a service mission. Keith was a hard worker, working with his father at the Mendenhall Equipment Co., later owning and operating Intermountain Tire Distributors, Inc. He took flying lessons at age 19. Keith enjoyed being with his family, reading Louis L'Amour books and watching John Wayne movies. He loved traveling in his motor home, hunting and fishing, especially salmon fishing in Idaho and Alaska. He enjoyed listening to Glen Miller music and playing pinochle and bridge. Surviving are his wife Shirley of South Ogden; five children, Shari (Steve) Sylvester, AZ; Debra (Ken) Iverson, Taylor; Tom (Kris) Mendenhall, VA; Cindy (Gary) Palmer, Clinton; Becky (Jeff) Olsen, Roy; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceding Keith in death were his parents and one sister, Faye Jones. A special thanks to Brenda, Ivan, and the staff of Summit Hospice; Dr. Richard Hall, and Laurie with Weber Senior Services. She was born in Preston, Idaho on February 16, 1922, a daughter of Leo J. and Chloe Clayton Peterson. She was a long time resident of Preston, ID and also Ogden UT. Beth leaves behind a husband Parm Keller, three sons; Jon Buttars of Ogden; Leo Buttars of Orem; and Terry Buttars of Ogden. She has 14 grandchildren, 30 great- grandchildren, and two sisters, Wanda Dowies of Scottsdale AZ; and Jean Seamons, of Gooding ID. She is preceded in death by her parents Leo and Chloe Peterson and two sisters Mona Biggs of Preston, ID; and Leola Larsen of Ogden, UT. Beth was a person who loved Preston and always spoke highly of the wonderful people who lived there and the experiences she had while living there. She loved to sing and had a beautiful alto voice. She loved to sing in the ward choir and with various singing groups including a barbershop quartet and large community choirs. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held various callings throughout her life. Beth absolutely adored her family and was so pleased that so many were able to visit her in the hospital during the last week of her life. Funeral services will be held Thursday March 20th at 11:00 am at the Westwood Ward Chapel located at 2223 North 2000 West, Farr West, with Bishop Wynnston Wright officiating. He was born July 12, 1916, in Avon, Utah, to James Richard Rawlings and Florence I. Rawlings. He married Ruth Bingham on March 28, 1939, in the Logan LDS Temple. Theron served an LDS mission in the Eastern Central States Mission with headquarters in Louisville, Ky. He loved memorizing scriptures and poems and enjoyed reciting them for friends and family throughout his life. He was very proud of his eight children. His three passions were his family, church, and farm. He operated a dairy farm in Fairview, Idaho, and won the Franklin County Grassman of the Year Award for his innovative farming. Theron loved the gospel and was instrumental in converting and activating many people during his life. He was in the Seventies Quorum for 17 years and was then made a High Priest. He and his wife served a mission in Cloquet, Minnesota, and were temple workers in the Logan and Ogden Temples. He is survived by his children: Mark (Wendy) Rawlings, Gig Harbor, WA; Elaine Rawlings, surviving spouse of Jay Rawlings, American Fork, UT; Illene (Theral) Nielsen, Bountiful, UT; Delbert (Ann) Rawlings, Preston, ID; Glade (Georgia) Rawlings, Logan, UT; Howard (Jeannette) Rawlings, McCook, NE; Theon (Stacy) Rawlings, Pleasant View, UT; James (Roxanne) Rawlings, Riverton, UT; his sister, Della Jones, and brother, Darwin Rawlings; 45 grandchildren and 84 great-grandchildren. Theron was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, who died April 9, 2006, and his son, Jay, who died in 1982. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the Preston 3rd Ward, 155 N. 200 West, Preston, Idaho, with Bishop Leonard Ward conducting. Smith, age 99, our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on March 12, 2008 in Cedar City, Utah. Alice was born in Cleveland, Idaho, to William and Margaret Smith, on November 25, 1908. She grew up in Cleveland, and attended grade school there, then rode a horse and drove a sleigh to Thatcher, Idaho 6 miles away for a high school education. After graduating from high school she attended the University of Idaho South Branch in Pocatello, so that she could earn a teaching certificate. She was then only 17 years old. She taught school in Stockton, Idaho for 5 years and then one year in Cleveland. Needing more credits to continue teaching she came to live with her brother in Cedar City, Utah and attended the BAC. She met Wallace Smith while living in Cedar City. They were married in St. George, Utah on Jan. 30, 1932. The marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple where she continued to enjoy many happy hours in that holy house. She was an enthusiastic genealogist, and compiled volumes of family genealogy and family history. She was a grateful, active member of the LDS Church all of her life, serving in many callings. Alice had a keen intellect and a love of learning. She was brilliant, well read, a fantastic historian, and loved the scriptures. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for many years and contributed much to that organization. Cedar City was her home for 65 years, where she kept a big yard and a farmer sized vegetable garden. She loved her three children, Allison (Van) Bushnell, Wallace Kay (Bonnie) Smith, Donlee (Kenneth) Simkins. Her grandchildren found refuge in her home and her caring ways. There are now many great, and great, great grandchildren. She will be laid to rest in the Cedar City Cemetery next to her husband Wallace who passed away in 1982. Funeral services will be Monday, March 17, 2008 at 11:00 am in the 2nd and 8th Ward Chapel located at 212 West 200 South in Cedar City, Utah, with the viewing from 9:30-10:30 am. She fought with courage and strength but lost the two-and-a-half year battle with lung cancer andfinally a brain tumor. She was born January 12, 1954 to Leon and Elaine Nuffer in Preston, Idaho. She lived in Dayton and worked on the family farm where she gained a strong work ethic. Linda graduated from West Side High School. After high school she moved to Ogden, Utah. She married Lloyd Laws and later divorced. She had one child, Cameron. They are now reunited after a short time apart. She worked for Utah Legal Services for 33 years. She made many lasting friendships with those she worked with. She enjoyed helping people. Many lives were helped for good because of the love she had for them. She loved her grandson Dylan very much. He brought great joy and happiness to her. She looked forward to his visits. She was so sorr! y she had to cancel their visit last Sat. She had a great love for her animals, she especially loved her four cats, Jasper, Clover, Charlie, Jem and her dog, Buddy. She also loved spending time with her family. Her favorite game was Pictionary and 99. Linda is survived by her grandson, Dylan Laws, four sisters and one brother. Vicki (Larry) Edgar, Annie (Larry) Lopez, Deon, Valerie (Ed) Barson and Fred (Becky) Nuffer. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Jane and son, Cameron. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sat., March 15, 2008 at the Webb Funeral Home in Preston, ID (109 E. Oneida St). Ann was born January 3, 1943, in Preston, Idaho, and grew up in Swanlake. She attended grade school in Downey and graduated from Marsh Valley High School. She attended Brigham Young University, where she met the love of her life, R. Kay Littlefield. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Ann was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She lived a life of service to her family and all who were in need. She was very talented in music, sewing, quilting, crafts and cooking. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, R. Kay Littlefield; their daughters, Kathryn, of Wilmington, N.C., Lisa (John) Roetker of Lehi, Utah, and Jamie (Scott) Smith of Park City, Utah; two grandsons, Zachary Roetker and Stephen Smith; her mother, Hazel Thomas of Swanlake; brothers, Terry (Marty) Thomas of Brigham City, Utah, Jed (Sally) Thomas of Hoodsport, Wash., Kim (Mary) Thomas of Swanlake, Brad (Donna) Thomas of West Jordan, Utah; and her sister, Cheryl (David) Packard of Inkom, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews. JR married Judy Crnkovich on July 18, 2000. He was employed with Teton Truss for seven years and always worked construction. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, demolition derby and camping with his kids and Uncle Kim. He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Christopher, Katelyn, Kailb, Charie and Emma; his mother Jackie Pack, siblings, Nina, Tina, Brandy and Brady; great grandmother, Ann Walton; grandmother, DellMay Penn, all of Afton, WY. JR was preceded in death by his great-grandfather Loren (Tuff) Walton; grandfather Robert Stumpp, great-grandfather and grandmother Stumpp; cousin, Dalin Ferrie, and Niece, Kyla Pack. McKay, 86, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008, on his 66th wedding anniversary at the Franklin County Medical Center. Dale was born Dec. 2, 1921, in Weston, Idaho, to Isaac William and Zelinda Fredrickson McKay. He was the sixth of eight children. Dale married Peggy Coburn on March 11, 1942, in the Logan LDS Temple. Dale began farming and ranching at the age of 16 when his dad was not able to do it anymore. Dale and Peggy continued to run the operation in Weston where they raised their five children. Dale loved hunting, traveling and spending time with his family, especially the little grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He attended and graduated from Weston schools. He had many callings in life. He served in the church bishopric, Sunday School presidency, stake extraction program, and as a stake missionary. One calling in life he really enjoyed was serving the county as a county commissioner for 10 years. He is the dad of two sons and three daughters, Sondra (Leon) Edwards, Van Dale (Karen) McKay, Dan (Jeanette) McKay, Syndee (Scott) Christensen, Terrie (Dave) Jenkins; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Dale was preceded in death by his son, Van; and also his parents; four brothers; and three sisters. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2008, at the Weston Ward chapel with Bishop Trent B. Alder conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Clara Dean passed quietly from this earth on March 8, 2008.Clara Dean was born September 5, 1922 to Charles Earl and Lois Hawkes Goaslind in Preston, ID and spent her youth there. She was active in school drama, girl's association activities and had many friends. While going to high school, she also worked at the movie theater in the small town. After graduating from high school, she attended Brigham Young University. She met her future husband, Thomas Max Smart, in the ninth grade and married him in the LDS Logan Temple on February 25, 1943, after he returned from his mission. They were devoted to each other through six decades of marriage. Their union was blessed with three children and the family lived in Idaho and Colorado before settling in Salt Lake City where Clar! a Dean worked for many years at Beehive State Bank. She was a valued employee, working as a teller supervisor, trainer, and eventually a bank officer. After retirement, Clara Dean and Tom made many friends as they spent the winters as "snow birds" in St. George, Utah. Clara Dean was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She was known as an exceptional teacher. She and Tom served a leadership mission in the Salt Lake City area. Clara Dean was a wonderful mother and grandmother, giving unconditional love and service to her family. Many fun hours were spent going to garage sales, laughing, and doing crafts together with her beloved sister, Carol. Family and friends all cherish the memories of those years before she became ill. When the diagnosis of Alzheimer's was received, Clara Dean faced the future with grace and acceptance. She is survived by children Kathy (Ron) King, Sparks, NV; Cindy (Steve) Lewis, Taylorsville! , UT; and Michael (Karen) Smart, Boise, ID; grandchildren Matt, Amy, J on, Stephanie, Kellie, Tim, Annie, Allison, Megan, Peter, Sara, and six great-grandchildren. Her nieces and nephews will fondly remember their "Aunt Mimo". The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of Holladay Health Care for their attentiveness to Clara Dean through her many years of affliction. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15th at 2 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South where a visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and again Saturday one hour prior to the services. He graduated from Weber High School and played baseball; he also attended Weber State College. Bernard married Delma Ruth Fowers July 12, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She passed away February 6, 1996. His early years he lived on a ranch near Evanston, WY; then moved to Riverdale, Utah to a fruit orchard. He was a farmer and also had worked for the U.P. Pacific Fruit Express in Ogden. He moved to Thatcher in 1979. Bernard had served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He was a High priest in the Thatcher LDS Ward. He had served on the Hooper Cemetery Committee in Utah. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working and his family. Bernard is survived by 1 son and 1 daughter; Lawrence B. and JanaLe Fox and Ruth and Hans Mussler all of Thatcher, ID; also surviving are 10 grandchildren and ! 2 great-grandchildren, 1 brother and 1 sister; Glenn Fox, Roy, Utah and Alice Foree, Ogden, Utah. Mom is now with her sweetheart Ivan, who she desperately missed since he passed away in July 2005. Ann was born February 27, 1941, in Logan, Utah, the daughter of DeLone and John Milton Spencer. She later moved to Cove, Utah. She married Ivan Hyrum Talbot on Nov. 15, 1957, in the Logan LDS Temple. She lived in the Winder ward for 50 years before moving to West Haven, Utah just one year ago. Mom loved her new house and loved being closer to more family. She also missed Idaho, her friends, family and her house on the hill with the beautiful view. Mom will be deeply missed. She loved and cared for her family and was always helping everyone. She has many friends in Idaho and she made new friends when she moved to West Haven. She cherished her friendships and appreciated all the kindness and consideration shown to her. Mom loved to sew and quilt and she was a great cook. Even though she has been will she continue to make quilts for her grandkids and cook for her family. When Mom was younger she was very active, she loved to swim and ice skate. Mom was an avid sports fan. She loved to follow the local teams. You always knew that there would be a game on the TV or radio at her house. Mom especially loved supporting her kids that played sports for Preston High. Her and Dad followed them throughout the state attending games. Mom was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings including Relief Society President and Primary and Young Women's leader. Her strong testimony was a great example to her family. Mom loved to helped people and was willing to serve. She was always making a meal and bringing in food for someone when it was needed. Mom leaves behind two daughters and five sons, Spencer (Tami) Talbot of Ogden, Boyd (Bobette) Talbot of Ogden, JoAnn (Allen) Briggs of Layton, Darryl (Lena) Talbot of Clifton, Idaho, Lola Jean (Steven) Lamb of West Haven, Jason (Anita) Talbot of N. Ogden, Casey (Jamie) Talbot of Logan; 34 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, John (Suzanne) of Lewiston, Rod (Gail) of Wisconsin, Dick of Cove. She is now reunited with her sweetheart, whom she has missed since December 2003. Betty Lou was born April 26, 1935, in Fairview, Idaho, to Allen R. and Edna Egbert Seamons, the second of seven children. She was a cute, red-haired, blue-eyed baby girl. She attended Preston High School where she met and courted the love of her life, Duane C. Golightly. After graduation they married on May 5, 1954, in the Logan (Utah) LDS Temple. She was the mother of 10 children and her family was very important to her. She loved being close to and caring for all of her family. She had many friends and made new friends as they traveled. She also cherished and appreciated all the kindness and consideration that all have shown her. She loved to go fishing, hunting and camping. She liked crocheting afghans, reading, writing poems, putting puzzles together, word searches and collecting many things. She and Duane loved supporting their children and grandchildren in sports and other activities everywhere they could. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings including Primary, Nursery, Young Women's and Sunday School secretary, family history worker (French extraction) and as a visiting teacher. She had a strong testimony and lived the gospel by example. She will be missed but we all know that she will now be free from her long health situations and is now happy. Thanks Mom, we love you. She was born in Millville, Utah, on March 8, 1919, the first of five children born to Mariner and Oneata Thorpe Bair. The family moved to New Sweden, southwest of Idaho Falls, in 1924, and Veloy received her education in Idaho Falls. She attended Utah State Agricultural College before she married Cecil W. Kunz on June 1, 1939, in the Logan LDS Temple. They spent most of their married years in Cache Valley. Veloy was always willing to serve as called in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was called to many presidencies of the Relief Society, Primary and MIA. Her greatest calling, however, was as homemaker, caring for her husband and children. She and Cecil often opened their home to extended family members. She found pleasure in cooking, baking, and in her vegetable gardening. Veloy and Cecil moved in 1994 for the second time from Logan to Preston, where they already had many friends. Cecil died December 19, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, M. Glen Bair, Idaho Falls; and a great-granddaughter, McKenna Bodrero. She is survived by her children: Calvin C. and Karen R. Kunz, Preston; Barton H. and Linda A. Kunz, Loveland, Colorado; Michael D. and Kathleen C. Kunz, Preston; Patricia K. and Odell E. Bodrero, Mendon, Utah; Clyde W. Kunz, and Brian Arthur, Phoenix, Arizona; Warren W. and Michelle D. He passed away on March 6, 2008, in Sandy, Utah. Howard was the youngest of nine children. He attended BYU and graduated from the University of Idaho, Magna Cum Laud. He served an LDS mission to Germany. He married Madge Peterson in 1933. He was the business manager of the Idaho Statesman newspaper in Boise, Idaho for 26 years, and he was a CPA. After retirement, he and Madge served a mission for the LDS Church Building Department in Sacramento, California and Montevideo, Uruguay. He retired from the LDS Church Finance Department.Always faithful to the LDS Church, he served nine years in the Bishopric and 17 years in the Stake Presidency of the Boise, Idaho Stake. He also was a temple ordinance worker in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He is survived by his children: H. Maurice (Pauline), Howard Barr (Rowena), Margot Moore (Larry), and John Paul (Donna), ! as well as 25 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Madge, a grandson, Mark, and a great-grandson, Tyler. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 12th from 6-8 p.m. and prior to the services on Thursday, March 13th, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Services will follow at 11:00.
