He was born July 24, 1924 to Frank Lee and Alta Eliza Webb Crockett in Preston, ID. He married Roma Sharp in the Logan Temple May 27, 1948. DeVerle served in the US Navy during World War II. He attended BYU and graduated from Utah State University with degrees in sociology, social work, and history. He loved music, western movies, and puzzles of all sorts. He immersed himself in history and was able to travel many places around the world with his wife. He also enjoyed playing golf weekly, weather permitting, and pinochle at Sunday Anderson's. He has held various church positions including ward clerk, executive secretary, stake missionary, and was a faithful home teacher. He worked for the FAA as a Flight Service Specialist for over 31 years. DeVerle is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ro! ma; sons, David D. Crockett, Dale S. Crockett (Roleane), Kevin J. Crockett (Sandra); many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and brothers, Webb, Reed and Rees. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lee Crockett; and sisters, Florene Mendenhall and Aldeane Fisher. Funeral Services will be held Mon., May 19, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Rosedale Ward, 500 North 1100 West. Friends may call on Sun., May 18, from 6-8 p.m. at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple and on Mon., one hour prior to services at the church. He was born Sept. 27, 1928, in New Brunswick, Canada, to Edgar Foster and Doris Phillips Burnett. He met the love of his life, Vynette Nelson, in San Francisco and knew right away he would marry her. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Sept. 21, 1964. His work in construction management took him to many parts of the world. Besides various locations in the U.S., he worked in Viet Nam, Labrador, Canada, Iran, The Netherlands, and Guam. With courage and intellect and a sense of adventure, Al traveled the world - often with his family in tow. He traveled to China, Japan, Russia, most of Europe, Australia and New Zealand to name a few. He especially enjoyed sampling the cuisine of different countries and meeting the people. He provided his family with a priceless education in life and all its possibilities. When he retired, he relocated one last time to his wife's home in Dayton, Idaho. There they bought a motor home and traveled around the U.S. doing festivals and fairs - selling mostly products they had found in their travels. He and Vynette enjoyed being a part of the small community of Dayton. He did much work in genealogy and temple work. Also, fishing was an important part of his life, and he went as often as possible. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Vynette, of Dayton; a son, Michael (Rebecca) Burnett of Lewiston, Utah; a daughter, Melinda White of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Sheila Duffy of Hartford, Conn. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, May 17, 2008, in the Dayton Ward chapel with Bishop Troy Moser conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the Weston, Idaho Cemetery. She passed away May 6, 2008, in Preston, Idaho. Nellie married Albert Lamar Harris on Oct. 26, 1935, in Randlett, Utah, where they farmed. Nellie was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where among many other positions, she served for 13 consecutive years in the Relief Society Presidency. In a life marked by service to others, Nellie's famous cinnamon rolls were delivered to countless friends and family. She was an amazing cook and no one ever left her home hungry. A lot of the food she served was grown in her beautiful gardens. Nellie was a beautiful seamstress and always willing to help with an alteration or sew a prom dress. She even made several wedding dresses. She was selfless, kind, and exceedingly patient. She always had time for a walk or was game to climb the red rock hill above the farmhouse with one or all of the kids. Nellie is survived by her four children, Loye Ranae (Gary) McDonald of Draper, Utah, Robert Lamar (Gloria) Harris of Driggs, Idaho, Dalen J. (Susan) Harris of Highland, Utah, and LuAnn (D. Byron) Kelley of Preston, Idaho. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eugenia (Grant) Pickup of Roosevelt, Utah; brothers, Wallace Dee (Cloe) Brough of Randlett, Utah, and Gilbert (Norma) Brough. She was preceded in death by brothers, Myron, Grant, George, Robert, Donald, John Garr; and sisters, Donna Pickup and Bonnie Brough. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, May 10, 2008, in the Preston 3rd/7th/10th Ward chapel, 155 N. 2nd W., Preston, with President Douglas Roper of the Legacy 1st Branch conducting. She preceded him in death on March 31, 1996. He later married Marjorie Standerfor in February of 2000. Lloyd always enjoyed working. He grew up on a farm in his youth and continued to farm throughout his life. He began working for the Amalgamated Sugar Company in 1956, and worked for them in some capacity until 2007. He is survived by his wife Marjorie; three sons, L. Brent Checketts, of Paradise, Utah, T. Craig (Julie) Checketts, of Eden, Utah, and C. Brad Checketts, of Paradise, Utah; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a step brother Mel Weeks. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Elsie; two sisters Ada and Ruby; a half sister Geraldine; and a step brother Vern Weeks. He taught school for two years in Franklin, Idaho, and an additional 31 years in Henderson, Nevada, as a math teacher and a coach. When John wasn't teaching, he enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, bowling, participating and watching all sports. He is survived by his wife, Verlene Dives Williams of Malad; two sons and two daughters, John (Sharon) Williams, Gary (Rosy) Williams, both of Henderson, Nev., Janalee (Tom) Walters of Moses Lake, Washington, and Lesa Young of Corvallis, Oregon. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 22 greatgrandchildren; four sisters, Mary Delene Edwards of Salt Lake City, Ila Mae (Wynn) John of Portage, Utah, Bonnie (Hugh) Johnson of Odgen, Utah, and Rosalee (Tyndale) Evans of Downey, Idaho. Stephens February 8, 1945, their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1976. He passed away in 1982. She married George Stewart Gilbert in 1986 in Salt Lake City. Stewart passed away in 1992. Viola later married Rulon D. Hogan in 1993, Rulon passed away in 2001. She was an active member of the L.D.S. Church and held many positions over the years. She was a loving and caring person. She enjoyed having family get-togethers for her children, step-children and brothers and sisters. She loved to dance and travel; she had many ! opportunities to enjoy both. He moved to St. George, Utah, at the age of 3 and resided there until the time of his death. His proudest accomplishment was getting his associate degree at Dixie State College and had plans of continuing on to get his bachelor's degree this fall. He loved playing his bass guitar, writing songs and jamming with his friends. Derek leaves behind a legacy of always willing to help others in need and a great sense of humor. He loved children and enjoyed spending time with and playing with his nieces and nephews during the holidays and at visits to their homes. He was very family oriented, helping his brothers with anything that he could. The best thing about Derek was the genuine person within--an all-around nice guy. He will be deeply missed. They were later divorced, and he passed away in 1986. She married Ralph Simpson, and he preceded her in death in 1971. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, Howard Jackson, who she married in 1972. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In Friday Harbour, Wash., after her retirement, she loved to sing and was a member of the group "Sweet Adelines". She was very musically talented and enjoyed attending many jazz festivals. She was a good neighbor and always helpful to others. She is survived by three sons and two daughers, Marvin Rex (Yevonne) Bell of Great Falls, Mont., Jolene F. (Brent) Porter of Franklin, Idaho, Shauna Lynn (Brent) Barton of Salt Lake City, Utah, Martin Dee Bell of Salt Lake City, Utah, David R. She was born Jan. 22, 1947, in Spokane, Wash., the daughter of Ernie and Marjorie Clinkenbeard Hurley. She married Steven Douglas Aust on July 16, 2004, in Preston, Idaho. She was an active member of the Preston Community Presbyterian Church. She established a program called "Share a Meal" where community members were able to enjoy meals together. She was studying to be a commissioned lay pastor in the Presbyterian Church - she had one class remaining. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed tying flies. She is survived by her husband, Steven, of Preston; a son and two daughters, Devin (Mary) Stanger of Preston, Amanda Hall of Preston, and Morgan (Robert) Dean of Nampa, Idaho; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and by two brothers, Gary (Linda) Hurley of Newport, Ore., and Dr. David (Janice) Hurley of Cheney, Wash. She was preceded in death by three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2008, in the Preston Community Presbyterian Church, 206 E. 200 North, Preston, with Pastor Mike Butler officiating. Friends may call from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Preston Community Presbyterian Church in memory of Karen. Chris was born on May 26, 1955, in Soda Springs, Idaho, the son of David Keith and Phyllis Brooks Barthlome. He was a lifetime resident of Thatcher. He graduated from Grace High School, attended Ricks College, BYUUtah and graduated from Utah State University. Chris married Colleen Muir October 3, 1981, at Elko, Nevada. They were later divorced. He married Pamela Anne Salerno May 30, 2006, at Syracuse, Utah. Chris was a rancher and a special education teacher in the Grace School District. He was an elder in the Thatcher LDS Ward, and had also served as ward clerk. He was a member of the Preston Elks Lodge, ditch rider for Thatcher Irrigation and Gentile Valley. He also was a PRCA judge. Chris loved judging rodeos, spending time with his kids and family. He enjoyed reading about the cowboys of the old West, Gettysburg and the Civil War. He is survived by his wife, Pamela; one son, two stepsons, four daughters and one stepdaughter, Caden Chris Barthlome, Woodruff, Utah, Joshua (Jenine) Lamano and Zachary Lamano, all of Layton, Utah, Calli (Cody) Christensen, Scottsdale, Ariz., Chelsie Barthlome, Cydnee Barthlome, Cami Barthlome, all of Woodruff, Utah, and Skyelee Lamano, Layton, Utah. Also surviving are three step-grandchildren; his mother, Phyllis Barthlome, and a brother, David (Gail) Barthlome, all of Thatcher, Idaho; and sisters, Shauna (Claude) Peterson, Soda Springs, Idaho, Luann (Ron) Pugh, Battle Ground, Wash., Toni (David) Andersen, Thatcher, Idaho, Pauline Kunz, Salt Lake City, Utah, Ora (Greg) Eisenbarth, Soda Springs, Idaho, and Penny (Michael) Orton, West Jordan, Utah. He was preceded in death by his father and a nephew, Jarred Orr. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 26, at noon at the Thatcher-Williams LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call on Friday evening, April 25, at the Thatcher-Williams Ward Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Thatcher Cemetery. The family suggests donations to your favorite charity and asks that you never let a day go by without telling your family and friends you love them. Jacob was a loving father, son, and brother. He was preceded in death by a brother, Amos Jr., and a daughter, Katie Isabella. He is survived by his parents, Amos and Elsie Merrill; brother, Joshua J. Merrill; son, Isaiah Vernon Merrill; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was a loving and devoted friend to everyone he knew. Jacob was an Eagle Scout and a mechanical engineer. His life ended suddenly in a motorcycle accident and we will all miss him dearly. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the Weston Idaho Chapel, 27 N. Bill served an LDS mission to Denmark. He attended Idaho State University, University of Utah and received a PhD in Physics and Math from Brigham Young University. After being proposed to, Bill married Manette Miner in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1958. They raised six children in Sunnyvale, CA and Sandy, UT. He worked as a research scientist at SRI in Menlo Park, CA and at Hercules in Magna, UT. Bill spent his life serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including a mission with his wife to the Ukraine and as ordinance workers in the Jordan River Temple. He will always be remembered for his compassion and love for others through his tireless service. Throughout his life, he loved to participate in and coach all sports. He was espec! ially passionate about BYU sports. Bill is survived by his wife, Manette; children, Linda (Barry) Hustedt, Lesa (Brent) Bowen, Bill (Holly), Karen (Dave) Allison, Suzette (Tom) Gatherum and Daniel (Alison); 32 grandchildren; one great-grand-son; three brothers, Gordon, Richard and Blair; one sister, DeAnne Meredith. Funeral Services will be held Mon., April 21st at 12:30 p.m. at the Sandy East Stake Center, 9636 So. 1700 E., Sandy. Viewings will be held Sun., April 20th from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. 10600 So., Sandy and from 11 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. on Monday prior to services.
