She was born June 18, 1934, in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Joseph Henry and Christina Caroline Deininger James. She married Clarence Kent Brough Nov. 11, 1951, in Tremonton, Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple. They were later divorced. Aleine always had a smile and was a hard worker. She worked at the Senior Citizens Center for three years cooking lunch. She enjoyed recipe books and her friends. She was a member of the Preston 9th Ward, where she served as a Primary teacher, Sunday School teacher, dance instructor and softball coach. She was a great grandmother to her 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She will be missed but we will enjoy the happy memories of her. She is survived by three daughters and one son, Linda (Larry) Hansen, Preston, Idaho, Kalene Bradly, Ogden, Utah, Raymond Brough, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Julie Ann (Albert) Duke, St. Johns, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday in the Preston North Stake Center with Bishop Cleve Esplin conducting. Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the stake center. Burial will be in the Preston, Idaho Cemetery.

She was born Jan. 31, 1910 in Nephi, Utah. The daughter of George Samuel and Lula Leola Clayton Winn. She was raised in Preston, ID. She married Edgar Leroy Morgan in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She gave birth to three sons, Jerald G., Edgar E., and Ezra T. Morgan. Her husband Edgar passed away in 1936, she then married Ervon L. Cole, and gave birth to three more sons, Marvin E., David L., and Craig W. Cole. They lived in Preston until 1952, when they moved to Ogden, Utah where she spent the rest of her life. Ervon passed away in 1971. She married Claude Simons, he passed away. She then married Ted Kilts who also passed away. Ethel was an active member of the LDS Church and had a strong testimony of the gospel. During her life she held about every position possible in the Primary, Relief Society, and Sunday School. She taught her first Sunday School class at the age of 14. She has been a member of the Stake Board Presidency in several stakes. She was active in temple work and was a temple worker for several years. She completed an LDS Mission in Texas. Her life's hobby was genealogy, she was noted for her genealogical and life history work on her ancestral lines. She worked many years for Utah Tailoring Mills, and also the Defense Depot. She enjoyed traveling and has traveled to many foreign countries. She has always been a very positive person, looking for only the best in people. Never making a derogatory statement about anyone. She always worried more about the other people than herself. She was loved, admired and respected by everyone. She was a pillar of strength to her family. She was what all people strive to be. She will be dearly missed by all. She is survived by three sisters, and one brother, Grace Corbridge, Seattle, WA; Larue Allred, Ogden; Opal (Wally) Manwill, St. George; Dale (Jeanette) Winn, Hooper; four sons, Jerald G. (Shirley) Morgan, Woburn, MA; Marvin E. (Shirley) Cole, Ogden; David L. (Marian) Cole, Rochester, NY; Craig W. Cole, Seattle, WA; 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Henderson, 86, retired railroad engineer and well known horseman, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday evening, February 14, 2001. He was born May 22, 1914, in Clifton, Idaho, a son of James C. and Mary Augusta Larson Henderson. He attended schools in Clifton and Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. He worked for various farmers in the Topance and Clifton area. On June 30, 1936, he married Adah Reese in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. Adah passed away February 1, 1998. Weldon delivered milk for Rowland’s Dairy. He also hired out with the Union Pacific Railroad in 1941 and later became an engineer. He retired with 36 years with the railroad in 1977. He also farmed and raised all kinds of farm animals. He especially enjoyed horses and raised and raced quality chariot teams, winning the World Championship Chariot Races in 1973. He also raced horses on the flat track and showed horses and won many awards over the year. He was widely known as an excellent horseman. He was an elder in the LDS Church and a home teacher and blessed many of his grandchildren. Survivors include: Two sons, Wayne R. (Colleen) Henderson, Emmett, Idaho; Melvin R. (Jean) Henderson, Lincoln City, Oregon; three daughters, Dorothy Kelley and Caroline Hazelton, both of Pocatello; Elaine (Leslie) Martin, Los Altos, Calif.; one brother, Claude L. (Shanna) Henderson, Rexburg, Idaho; two sisters, Mildred Hughes, Henderson, Nevada; LaVerne Holman, Eureka, Utah; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and another one due any day, and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 4 brothers, 3 sisters and 1 granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2001, at 1 p.m. at the Chubbuck LDS Sixth Ward Chapel, corner of Siphon and Philbin, with Bishop Duane Hall officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Pocatello, Idaho. He was born Jan. 18, 1917, in Wellsville, Utah, the youngest of five children of John C. and Catherine Hall Brenchley. Reed was raised in Wellsville and attended Cache County public schools. He graduated from Utah State Agricultural College in 1939 and later received his master's from Utah State University. He married Nell Bryson of Providence, Utah, on Aug. 30, 1939, in the Salt Lake Temple. He taught in the public schools of Smithfield, Utah; Arimo, Idaho, and Preston, Idaho. He served as principal of Preston High School from 1946 to 1965 and as a guidance counselor from 1965 to 1981, at which time he retired with 41 years of public school service. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946. He was involved in the Preston Lions and Monarch Lions Club for many years. He was active in local politics, serving as Preston city councilman and later as mayor from 1983 to 1984. He was active in the LDS Church, serving in many capacities, including scoutmaster, bishop's counselor, bishop, high councilor, stake clerk and temple sealer. From 1984 to 1985, he served with his loving wife in the Louisiana, Baton Rouge Mission. She was born in Preston, Idaho, on June 24, 1908, the daughter of Willard and Annabel Cowley Larson. Jessie learned many of life's important lessons growing up in a family with three brothers and no sisters. The need for self-preservation taught her the value of sharing, working together, developing courage and resilience. Her delightful sense of humor and ability to laugh endeared her to many. Jessie and her mother were very close. Not only were they mother and daughter, but also friends and allies. After finishing high school in Preston, she attended and graduated with honors from Utah State Agricultural College (now Utah State University). Jessie taught elementary school for several years and then decided to further her education. She spent time in New York and also in Europe studying are and then returned to Utah, where she accepted a teaching position in the art department at USU. This proved to be challenging and meaningful. A sabbatical leave provided her with the opportunity to study at the University of Washington and the Fine Arts Center at Colorado Springs. It was there that she received a Master of Fine Arts degree in oil painting. After 33 years of teaching, Jessie retired from USU. She had helped hundreds of young people develop their artistic ability and gain a love and appreciation for art. Jessie was a dedicated teacher and talented artist. She received numerous awards. Her love of art and beauty was not limited to painting, sculpting, weaving and ceramics. She appreciated all forms of beauty and creative expression. Her love of nature, from the most glorious breath-taking sunset to the tiniest delicate blossom, was evident in all she did. Through the years, Jessie traveled to many parts of the world, near and far. She was able to experience first hand the magnificent creations of God and man. Jessie was a faithful, valiant member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities and spent countless hours in Temple service. Her life was devoted to serving the Lord, her fellow men and her family. She was deeply loved and will be missed by her family, her many friends and associates. She is survived by her brother, Mark H. Evelyn was born Nov. 17, 1917, in Fairview, Idaho, the daughter of Warren Baird and Cora E. Helmandollar Baird. Evelyn grew up in Fairview and attended Preston High School, Preston, Idaho. She moved to Ogden, Utah, and worked as a domestic care provider until she married. Evelyn married Reed Taylor Marler on Nov. 27, 1936, in Farmington, Utah, which was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Evelyn and Reed later moved to the Los Angeles area where her husband was employed in the aircraft industry until1 942. They returned to Ogden where Reed was employed at Hill Air Force Base. In 1945 Reed and Evelyn relocated to Logan where they raised their family. As her family grew older Evelyn established a career in the retail industry. Evelyn was an active member of the LDS Church where she held numerous positions and callings in the MIA, Relief Society, dance director, and as a LDS temple worker for numerous years. Evelyn is survived by two sons and two daughters, A. Larry and VeAnn Marler, Phoenix, Ariz., Judy and Dallas Perry, Logan, Bruce Reed and Beverly Marler, Pasadena, Md., Tauna and Randal Ralphs, Ferron, Utah; one brother, Dorman Baird, Ogden; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and one sister. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Allen-Hall Mortuary under the direction of Bishop Karl Reid. She was born Aug. 4, 1911, in Nephi, Utah, the daughter of James Earl and Mary ElleNora Jacobsen Reid. She married Elden Speirs Tanner on Aug. 11, 1933, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She had a lifelong interest in reading and was a member of the Literary Club. She served in many positions in the LDS Church including Sunday School, Primary, as Relief Society President (twice), and she was also involved in genealogy and temple work. She was a missionary at the Logan Genealogy Library every Monday for 20 years. She was also involved with the Daughters of Utah Pioneers serving as first-Vice for the Lopine Camp. She also was a member of the PTA where she served as president of the Jefferson PTA. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Elden S. Tanner, Preston, Idaho; three daughters and two sons, Kathryn T. (Allen) Martin, Pocatello, Idaho, Neil Reid (Mary Jo) Tanner, Centerville, Utah, Marjorie T. (Norman) Nelson, Seattle, Wash., Gail T. (Clyde) Heiner, Farmington, Utah, and Earl Reid (Linda) Tanner, West Jordan, Utah; 29 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and by a sister-in-law, Lee Reid, Orem, Utah. She loved being around her family, especially her grandchildren. Gen. Louis O. Alder, 78, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2001, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Tabor Road in Corona, California. He died Monday, January 22, 2001, of multiple myeloma at Parkview Community Hospital Medical Center in Riverside, California. Graveside services will be held in Chesterfield Cemetery, Chesterfield, Idaho, on Monday, Jan. 29, at 1 p.m. Local arrangements are under the direction of Sims Funeral Home, Soda Springs. Maj. Gen. Alder, son of Frank and Wanda Katie Whitworth, was born in Preston, Franklin County, Idaho, and was raised in Chesterfield County. He served in the U.S. Air Force 33 years before he retired as major general in 1975. His last assignment was a deputy chief of staff. He received a Distinguished Service Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster. He also worked as deputy controller for a year in the Energy Research and Development Administration in Washington, D.C., until 1976. He worked for TRW in Redondo Beach, California, from 1980 until 1987, when he retired as manager of military satellite subcontracts. Maj. Gen. Alder was president of the Manchester, England mission from 1976 to 1979. He was a sealer who married couples in the Los Angeles temple from 1984 until this year. He also was president of the Corona, California, stake from 1988 to 1995. He volunteered for many different youth organizations, and received Boy Scouts’ Silver Beaver Award for service in Corona in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Sue; three daughters, Joy Weinkauf of Norco, California, Gaye Gaskell of Corona, California, and Katie Libby of Sedona, Arizona; a son, Butch, of Salt Lake City, Utah; 18 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; three brothers, Eugene Whitworth of Blackfoot, John Whitworth of Longmont, Colo., and Larry, of Boise; and three sisters, Florence Manwaring of Rexburg, June Shappart of Pocatello, and LaVi Thomas of Reno, Nevada. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marise Geddes, and brother, Ray Whitworth. Ryan was born April 6, 1966, at Bremerton, Wash., a son of Warren S. and Joyce Poulsen Pugh. He was an Eagle Scout, having completed every merit badge in the Scout book. He served a mission to Kobe, Japan. He graduated from Ricks and then BYU with a Japanese major and a minor in finance. Ryan was preparing to enter law school soon. He owned a car dealership in Utah County. Nothing slowed Ryan down, he was always on the go and took every challenge in life with great gusto. Ryan is survived by his father and mother of Lynden, Wash.; brothers, W. Kelly (Wendy) Spokane, Wash., Roger A. (LeAnn) Ephrata, Wash., and Troy J. (Leslie) Orem, Utah, and seven nephews and nieces. Ryan had an infectious smile and great personality and will really be missed by his family, friends and associates. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harold J. and Velma Keller Poulsen; his aunt, Alenda Poulsen; and his paternal grandparents, Gilbert F. and Luzena Wolfkill Pugh. His funeral will be held in Orem on Friday, Jan 26. He will be buried in the Preston, Idaho Cemetery by his maternal great-grandparents, Adam A. and Elvena Christensen Keller. A short graveside service will be at the Preston, Idaho Cemetery on Saturday. He was born in Sublett, Cassia County, Idaho, on Sept. 22, 1913, to Abel Weaver and Clara Bryant Dalley Stevenson. He was the second child in a family of seven children. He attended elementary schools in Sublett and Linrose, Idaho. He graduated from Preston High School in 1932. He attended Brigham Young University before serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Texas-Louisiana mission from 1935 to 1937. He married Florence Ethel Smart on April 3, 1940, in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of eight children: LaJeane (Tom) Lewis, of Pleasant View, Utah, Carol (Darald) Austin, of Preston, Idaho, David Merlin (Cherie) Stevenson, of Bluffdale, Utah, Sharon (Reed) Perry, of Logan, Utah, Donna (deceased), Kay (Monte) Moser, of Preston, Idaho, Garth Edward (Robin) Stevenson, of Dayton, Idaho, and Raelene (Denis) Jepsen, of Franklin, Idaho. He was a kind, loving and patient husband, father and grandfather. He affected many lives with his tenderness and kindness and was a great example for his posterity. They lived in Linrose, Idaho, for four years after their marriage where they were involved with farming. They then purchased a farm in Dayton, Idaho, and worked and resided there for 56 years. He was an excellent farmer and was chosen as a Franklin County Grassman of the Year. He served many years on the Utah-Idaho Canning Crops Association. They moved to Logan in January of 2000. He was active in the LDS Church and besides serving his mission, he served on both the ward and stake level as a ward clerk, superintendent of the Sunday School, High Priest group leader, president of the YMMIA, member of the Sunday School Board of the old Oneida Stake, and an excellent Gospel Doctrine teacher. He is survived by 29 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 19 step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and a sister: Harold (Ruth) Stevenson, of Linrose, Idaho; Leona Adams, of West Valley, Utah; Arthur (Margaret) Stevenson, of Weston, Idaho; Lynn (Darlene) Stevenson, of Wendall, Idaho, and Zane (Sharon) Stevenson, of North Ogden, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents; a baby brother, James Rupert; his baby daughter, Donna, and grandsons, Brian Jay Perry and Gary Monte Moser. Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday, Jan. 27 in the Clifton 1st Ward chapel with Bishop Reed Nelson conducting. He was born December 13, 1925, in Preston, Idaho, a son of David Earl and Lilia Irene Millard Kendall. He married his eternal sweetheart, Florence Gayle Almond, on his birthday, December 13, 1943. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. As an active member of the LDS Church, he devotedly served in many positions which included bishop, stake high councilman, stake Young Men’s president, and many other ward positions. He earned his Master M-Men Award. He and his wife served a mission in the Peoria, Illinois mission. He was in the automobile business most of his life, which included owning his own business. His hard work earned him the sales Master Award as one of the top 10 salesmen for eight consecutive years for General Motors. Along with the automobile business, he and his brothers farmed together in Oxford, Idaho, and later with the help of his wife and seven daughters, developed the strong family ties as they all worked side by side on their own farm. He was a veteran of World War II. Cluff was happiest when he was surrounded by his family and being creative in his workshop. As a dad and grandpa, he taught lessons of hard work, endurance, patience and honesty. He will be remembered for his strong will, the love and support rendered to his family and friends, and the friendships nurtured with his concern and genuine service. Our Father in Heaven couldn’t have blessed our family with a better man to fulfill the duties of a husband, father and grandfather. We will love and miss him deeply because of the love and strength he gave to us, but we know he is at peace. Surviving are his wife, Gayle, of Dayton; seven daughters, Lynda (Ray) Horsley of Taylorsville, Utah, Jean (Lloyd) Barnes of Kaysville, Utah, Christy (Kent) Bennett of Alta Loma, Calif., Judy (Raymond) Pitcher of Cornish, Utah, Irene (Gregory) Burk of Kaysville, Utah, Ellen (Keith) Gregersen of Syracuse, Utah, Heidi (Bert) Coulson of Garland, Utah. He was also blessed with 27 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Cluff is also survived by his sister, Carma (Wendell) Nielsen of Ogden, Utah, and sister-in-law, Donna Kendall of Oxford. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister (Anna), three brothers, Lavern, Karl, Merl, and one great-grandson (Alex Vincent). Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 24th, at the Clifton LDS First Ward Chapel at noon. Friends may call at the Webb Funeral Home at 109 E. Oneida today, Tuesday, Jan. 23, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Wednesday at the Clifton First Ward meeting house from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with the services beginning at noon. She is survived by her six children; Lyman C. Stephenson, Martinez, CA; Don Rey Stephenson, Twin Falls, ID; Paul James Stephenson, Corbin, KY; Glen K. Stephenson, Caldwell, ID; Jon Stephenson, Nampa, ID; and Lynda Lee Stephenson O’Very, Spokane, WA. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Marion Leffler Cutler, Idaho Falls, ID. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in 1996, five sisters and a brother.
