She was born May 28, 1917, in Logan, the fourth child to Serge Marcelle and Ann Hawkins Bodrero. She had four sisters and two brothers. They were all born in the same corner home that their father was born in. She was raised in Logan and graduated from Logan High School and Seminary in 1936. She married Sheldon Gayle Beckstead on June 20, 1938, in Ogden. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS Temple on Dec. 13, 1939. They were faithful companions for 63 years until Sheldon passed away last year. They lived in Whitney for 26 years where their three children were born and raised. In 1964, they moved to Rupert where they resided until October of 1998 when they moved to Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. She enjoyed spending summers in Alpine, Wyo., and winters in Lake Havasu, Ariz. She held many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by her three children, Sharon Anne Nelson of Midvale, Gayle (Melvin) Mosley of Cheyenne, Wyo., Brent (Diane Lish) Beckstead of Lava Hot Springs; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; by two sisters, Wanda Chestang of Las Vegas, Nev., Betty Richardson of Hyrum and by a sister-in-law, Thelma Beckstead Bodrero of Logan. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 1, 2002, at noon in the Whitney First Ward Chapel, Whitney, Idaho. Friends may call Sunday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lava Hot Springs LDS Church and Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church in Whitney. Burial will be in the Whitney Cemetery. John was born on the 19th of December 1911 in Franklin, Idaho. He was 90 years old. He was the fifth child of John Lance Adamson and Maude Biggs Adamson. The family consisted of six children, four boys and two girls. John stayed in Franklin through his high school years. During this time he became the Junior Class President, a leader in high school counseling and then Student Body President. John also took part in and directed school and church plays. He then attended Idaho University taking a course in electronics. This schooling prepared him to get a job at Boeing Aircraft Company in Seattle. During this time he married Shirley Egan and they had three children, two sons and one daughter, Jay Lamonte, Dennis Boyd and Dorothy Lou. John honorably served in the United States Navy for approximately eight years both on active and reserve status. During his active service he helped to rehabilitate those personnel suffering from the effects of war. Anyone who knew John could see him succeeding in this effort. He later attended photography school and became an exceptional photographer possessing all the required equipment. He became very active in writing throughout his life. He left a wealth of poems, stories and historical documentation of the family. This contribution along with countless photos will live on indefinitely. John retired from Kennecott Copper Corp. with 33 years of service at various positions. John was deeply involved with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a leader and Chaplin during many river trips with hundreds of scouts. He was active in this for 16 years. John had a wonderful influence on the young scouts. This was brought to his attention many times in later life. He would be stopped on the street and thanked for the help and guidance he gave when it was needed. During this time John received much recognition and many awards including scouting's highest counsel award, the Silver Beaver in 1963. John married Margaret Dangerfield Blosch in 1951 and then in 1954 they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. By this marriage John became the step father to Gordon and Kenny Blosch. John and Margaret had a wonderful life together. They traveled every chance they got for many years. John was a wonderful, caring and generous man who brought much happiness to everyone he met. If you knew John, you loved him. A special thanks to Pete for being a wonderful friend to John in later life. They were a help to each other and they gave the meaning of true friendship a special value. John dedicated his life to helping others. We view the world as a better place because of his influence and because he was a part of our lives. John is preceded in death by his father, mother, three brothers, one sister and his two sons. He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Lou Adamson Jones of El Paso Texas; his sister, Charlotte Adamson Bell of Harrisville, Utah; step-sons Gordon Blosch of Boise, Idaho; and Kenny Blosch of Salt Lake City, Utah; and many friends, nieces and nephews. A graveside ceremony will be conducted Monday, July 1, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 W. 4100 So. West Valley City.

They moved to Boise in 1944 where they owned and operated a 70-acre dairy farm until their retirement in 1972 Carlos enjoyed his garden, hunting, fishing, bowling and he loved his horses. He raised and trained American Saddlers and Paso Finos. He introduced the Paso Fino breed to the valley. He has always been active in his church serving in scouting, Sunday School and High Priest Quorums. In 1973, Carlos and Helen were called to serve a mission for the L.D.S. Church in Nauvoo, Ill. for 1 1/2 years and then stayed until 1981, where Carlos managed the church farm in Nauvoo. He is survived by his wife, Helen of more than 66 years; six children, Reed (Lynne) and John (Connie) of Lewiston, Idaho, Dallan (Patty) of Meridian, Idaho, Mark (Shirley) of Clearfield, Utah, Gloria Rydalch (Kent) of Littleton, Colo. and Gini Porter of Rigby, Idaho; 24 grandchildren; and 37 great grandchildren. The family gives their sincere thanks to Dr. Rob Hilvers and Val Dawidczik, RN, for their attentive care. He married Mildred Rose Putnam in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 15, 1934, and they made their home Woodruff, Utah, where he worked on a cattle ranch for Deseret Livestock. In 1941, they moved to Woods Cross, Utah, where Louis farmed and worked for an oil refinery. In 1946 they bought the family farm near Ontario and moved to Oregon. Louis was actively involved in the dairy and row crop operation with his five sons and son-in-law. He was civic-minded and served in many capacities in local and state organizations. He was president of the Oregon Holstein Association, Malheur County Dairy Association, Malheur County Holstein Association, and served on the Oregon State Cattle Health Board. He was a Malheur County commissioner and served in various other capacities. Louis and Mildred served a full-time LDS mission to the Swiss Temple in Bern, Switzerland, from 1978-1979 and enjoyed being in the land from where his father had emigrated. He took a less active role in the farm after returning from Switzerland and became a sealer in the Boise Temple, serving for 14 years until his health prevented him from continuing. He was privileged to perform the temple marriages of eight of his grandchildren. He was always active in his church, serving as bishop, bishop's counselor, high councilman, stake young men's youth activity director, physical facilities representative, ward clerk, and temple sealer. Louis always expressed a love for his country, his church, and his family. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred; and three sons, Louis Melvin and his wife, Kay, Richard Daniel and his wife, Kay, and Mark Putnam and his wife, Kelly, all of Ontario; daughter, Maureen Thomas of Salem, Ore.; brother, Ray Wettstein of Bountiful, Utah; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Wettstein, of Boise; a daughter-in-law, Kerri Fisher of Long Beach, Calif.; son-in-law, Thane and Colleen Thomas of Ontario; 24 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He was born June 9, 1922, in Logan, the son of Ossie and Florence Downs Ralphs. He was a lifelong resident of Clifton. Dale married Afton Olson on May 24, 1943, in Oxford, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Aug. 30, 1944. They were faithful companions for 59 years. Dale served in the U.S. Army during World War II and spent one and a half years in Japan. During his younger years he enjoyed playing many sports, including baseball as the pitcher and basketball. His hobbies included attending basketball games, watching boxing on ESPN, "Friday Night Fights" and being with his family. Dale was an active high priest in the Clifton Second Ward and served in many capacities including a counselor in the Sunday School and ward and financial clerk under several bishops. His humble, pleasing personality will always be remembered. Throughout his life he exemplified the qualities of an honest, hardworking man. He spent his life as a dairy farmer up to the day he died in Clifton, where he taught his family through his example the importance of diligent hard work, love and honesty. Dale demonstrated his love for his friends and family in his daily acts of kindness and support which will never be forgotten. We will always remember his approving smile and joyous laugh. He is survived by his wife, Afton of Clifton; and one son, Alan and Laurie Ralphs of Layton; his grandchildren, Tenaya and Chad Bessinger of Farmington, Gregrey and Tiffany Ralphs, Jamie Lynn Ralphs, Shanae Ralphs and Jamie Jo Ericksen, all of Layton. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Dixie Ralphs and a daughter-in-law, Jacquelynn Robins Ralphs. She was a member of the Ogden 62nd LDS Ward. She enjoyed music, dancing and loved to play the piano and was choir director in her earlier years. She enjoyed being around people and especially her friends. She and Tiff loved to fish and play pinochle. They were snowbirds in the winter in Mesa, Arizona. Surviving are two sons, Jerrold Campbell, Secu, Thailand; Craig W. Campbell, Ogden; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Drew, who died at birth, and Phillip Tiffen Campbell; one granddaughter, Vickie; three brothers; and two sisters. After leaving Idaho she lived in Ogden, eventually moving to Clearfield where she has lived for the past 50 years. Muriel married Joseph F. Nye on August 23, 1945 in Ogden. They were later divorced. She married Merlin R. Peterson on March 12, 1993 in Clearfield. Muriel retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1980 after 30 years of service. She was an active member of the LDS church, holding numerous positions. She and her husband Merlin served a mission for the church in the Sunset Employment Center. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and in her flower garden. Surviving are her husband, Merlin R. Peterson, Grace, ID; one daughter, Kristine Nye (Ed) Craig, Ogden; three grandchildren, and one sister, Gloria Jensen, Preston, ID. Preceded in death by two sisters, one brother, and her parents. Glen was a lifetime resident of Preston, Idaho. He was born on March 18, 1913, in Preston, Idaho, to Willard A. and Sarah Annie Wheeler Manning. He was the oldest of seven children. On Oct. 20, 1937, he married Norma Baker in Pocatello, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah, temple. The bond of love Glen had for Norma continued when his health failed. They were self-sufficient until two years ago. He was determined to live independent and cared for Norma until recently. He was a licensed contractor at W.A. Manning and Son Plumbing and Heating in Preston, Idaho. He was also a union member and worked for many plumbing and heating contractors. He was employed at Utah State University in plumbing maintenance and repair before retiring in 1978. He enjoyed the outdoors. In his younger years he loved to hunt and fish in the Idaho mountains. Many hunting trips were with his close family members. Our fondest memories of Glen are when we could get him to talk about those adventures and the experiences they had together. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Norma, of Preston; a son, Dennis (Lorie) Manning, Logan, Utah; a daughter, Kathy (Ron) French, Logan, Utah; by grandchildren, Rich (Laura) French, Salt Lake City, Utah, Jeff (Annie) French, Natalie (Scott) Ward, Heather (T.J.) Hart, and step-grandson, Eric (Shalise) Summers, all of Logan, Utah; three great-grandchildren, Zachary French, Whitley and Teagan Ward. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 24, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, Idaho. Friends may call Sunday, June 23 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary and Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m., also at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.

John Mangum, Jr., passed away Sunday, June 16, 2002, at the age of 42. He was born June 15, 1960, in Ely, Nev., to John Theodore Mangum and Joan Montgomery. He served in the Montana mission for the LDS Church. On his return, symptoms of Cockaynes Syndrome, a genetic disorder, began to emerge and he battled bravely the rest of his life. His brother, Jody Lee Mangum, 45, passed away May 1 of this year of the same degenerative disease. John is survived by his father, Ted (Dodey) Mangum of Logan; Joan Montgomery of Franklin, Idaho; two sisters, Shelley Howard (children, Joshua, Jessica and Jayda) of Pleasant Grove, and Jacque (Scott) Sanderson of Roswell, Ga. John possessed a celestial spirit, a keen sense of humor and a valiant heart. He has resided at the Sunshine Terrace for the last two and a half years where he received great care. While he was still active, John engaged in many sports, from bowling to archery to rafting to dirt biking. He also loved monster truck rallies and all animals. He enjoyed working and spent several years in the kitchen at Carousel Square on the USU campus. Previously, he had worked in the Airport Hilton kitchen in Salt Lake City. John’s life exemplified courage, hope and faith and he will be greatly missed by all who enjoyed knowing and loving him. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at noon in the Cliffside Second Ward Chapel, 1350 Eastridge Dr., Logan, with Bishop Boyd Rowley conducting. He is survived by his loving, caring wife and lifelong companion of 63 years, Lucile Sanford Heath of Springville, Utah. He is also survived by two sons and their spouses: Bruce L. & Claudia Heath, Sandy, Utah; David W. & Susan Heath, Kaysville, Utah; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Hugh grew up and attended school in Paul, Idaho. His mother died when he was 14. About that time, he moved to Bennett"s ranch by Thatcher, Idaho. That area was a place he loved and returned to throughout his life. At age 24, in 1935, Hugh was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His love of the church and the gospel were the guiding light of his life. He served a mission for the church in the Western States Mission. He also served in various other church callings, including in the bishopric of the Clearfield 4th Ward. He remained faithful to the Church and gospel principles to the end of his life on this earth. He and his family also lived in Mapleton, Clearfield, Lewiston and Kaysville, Utah. He will be remembered as loving husband and father, a strong but gentle man, a friend to everyone who knew him, a man who had no enemies. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Wednesday, June 19, 2002 in the Kaysville LDS Church (Old Rock Chapel) 25 South 200 East, Kaysville, Utah where friends and family may call one hour prior to services. He was born Feb. 4, 1925, in Virginia, Idaho, the son of John Lorenzo and Rosetta B. Brown Tillotson. He attended schools in Virginia and Downey, Idaho. He served four years in the armed forces during World War II. With the exception of a few months in training, his time was spent in Italy on the Anzio beachhead and in Germany. He worked 40 years on the Union Pacific Railroad as a sectionhand, section foreman, and roadmaster. He married Bessie Tripp on April 1, 1948, in Pocatello. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. He served as Sunday School superintendent, elder's quorum secretary and as ward clerk at various times in the church. He enjoyed traveling and camping with his family. He loved his children, enjoyed his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren were his angels. He is survived by his wife, Bessie, of Franklin; one son and two daughters, John (Vonda) Tillotson of Trenton, LuDean (Hans) Parkin of Hyde Park, Lesa (Ray) Allison of Ulm, Mont.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Francis Walters of Pocatello, Lovisa (Roy) Corson of Pocatello, Beatrice (Gene) Day of Downey, Rose (Guy) Perry of Pocatello; and by a sister-in-law, Memory Tillotson of Montpelier, Idaho. There she met and married Ross Carrmack. They were later divorced. She enjoyed reading, collecting books, listening to music, playing the piano, sewing clothes and jogging. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by her father and stepmother, Allen (Ardell) Lyon, Treasureton, Idaho; sisters and brother, Gwen (Oran) Vance, American Fork, Utah, Ross (DeAnn) Lyon, Treasureton, Idaho, Peggy (Sherman) Wright, Thatcher, Idaho, and Janet (Larry) Walters, Cascade, Idaho; stepbrothers and sister, Demar (Kenda) Merrill, Pioneer, California, Melody (Brad) Del Torto, Reno, Nevada, and Rahn Merrill, Reno, Nevada. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, by a sister, Renee, and by a nephew, Allen. Merry's life changed dramatically when she became ill with Huntington's. The family would like to give our gratitude to the many people, family, and friends that touched her life and helped Merry endure to the end. She was born March 29, 1917, in Whitney, Idaho, to Sylvan G. and Edna Harriet Maughan Weaver. She was raised in Whitney until the family moved to Preston, where she graduated from Preston High School in 1935. While married she lived in Fairview, Idaho from 1940 to 1947, then they moved to Inkom until the time of her death. She married DeMar Hall Gilbert on March 29, 1940, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. They were married for 62 years. Harriet worked as a receptionist for a doctor in Preston; she then worked for Sego Milk until she was married. She served on the South Bannock Library Board for several years and was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She belonged to the Farm Bureau organization and was voted Bannock County Farm Wife of the Year. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various organization such as Primary, Mutual, Sunday school and Relief Society and mostly with the music. Harriet was raised in agriculture and was reared in a musical family which fostered a lifelong love of music that she passed on to her family. She was a horsewoman from an early age and helped her husband, DeMar, work cattle many times. She was an attendant in the Preston Rodeo royalty. Harriet was intensely involved in all of her family's activities, and gave them her love, support and counsel, whether they wanted it or not. Harriet is survived by her husband, DeMar H. Gilbert of Inkom; three sons and two daughters, DeMar W. (Donna) Gilbert of Inkom, Etta Jeane Gilbert Staley of Nampa, Idaho, John Quin (Karen) Gilbert of Inkom, Todd H. (Janine) Gilbert of Inkom, and Becky (Kelly) Whitworth; and one brother, Ross M. Weaver; 25 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Weston Weaver and Grant Weaver, a sister, June Long, two grandsons, Shon B. Gilbert and Jared K. Whitworth, three granddaughters, Sheri, Amy and Stephanie Staley, and one great-granddaughter, Taylor Schweitzer. Services will be held at noon Thursday June 13, 2002, at the Inkom LDS Rapid Creek Ward. He was born in Dingle, Idaho, on Jan. 3, 1927, to Seymour Jesse and Evelyn Howell Lindsay. He attended schools in Dingle and helped on the family farm; he especially enjoyed working with animals. He raised Black Angus for many years, owning two ranches in the Bear Lake Valley. After serving in the Navy during World War II, he met and married Helen Nye on Aug. 28, 1946. They were blessed with six children, Robert, Merlin, Karen, Donovan, Sheila and Brenda May. Helen passed away June 19, 1968, after a short battle with cancer. He then married Twilla Kulicke, Oct. 2, 1968. She brought to this union five children, Keven, Allen, Keith, Merlin and LaNita. McKay and Twilla joined their two families and loved and raised nine wonderful children together as one family. McKay was a wonderful husband and father and was always a hard worker. He owned and operated many rock quarries. He quarried, shaped the stone and hauled it to Island Park, Rexburg, Idaho Falls, Utah State in Logan, Montpelier Stake Center and the LDS church in Dingle. He also drew the blueprints for the family home in Dingle, with the beautiful stone from the quarry. He then built most of the home himself, with help from his young sons. For 36 and 1/2 years, he hauled milk from Idaho to Wyoming and Utah. He was well known and loved by the people, in part because of his love for people. He was known as the “Visiting Milk Man.” After retiring from the milk business, he and Twilla spent 14 winters traveling south, mainly to Yuma, Ariz. In the summers, while they were back in Dingle, McKay was employed by Bear Lake County Weed Control. He was active in the LDS church. He received his Master ‘M’ Men Pin and served as president and counselor in the Elders Quorum and the Young Men’s Program. He served in the Dingle Ward Bishopric under three different bishops for a total of 14 years. He also served as the ward financial clerk for several years. At the time of his death he was a high priest. In October 2001, he and Twilla moved to Preston, Idaho, to be closer to his doctors in Logan. He quickly became acquainted with his new neighbors and they loved to visit with him. McKay is survived by his wife Twilla of Preston and his four children, Merlin (Karen) Lindsay of Menden, Utah, Karen (Keven) Kulicke of Montpelier, Idaho, Donovan (Kristene) Lindsay of Pocatello, Idaho, and Sheila Lindsay of Ada, Okla. He is also survived by his five stepchildren he raised as his own, Keven (Karen) Kulicke of Montpelier, Allen (Lynn) Kulicke of Bountiful, Utah, Keith Kulicke of Montpelier,, Merlin (Melissa) Kulicke of Pocatello, and LaNita (Kim) Steely of Montpelier. He also has 29 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a brother, Laurel (Marlene) Lindsay of Montpelier. His parents, a son, Robert, and an infant daughter, Brenda May, preceded him in death. McKay will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a very kind and loving man. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 12, at 1 p.m. in the Dingle LDS Chapel. Friends may call at Matthews Mortuary on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 and on Wednesday at the church in Dingle from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Dingle Cemetery.
