Reed Fellows, aged 79 years, left this earth to return to his home in Heaven on March 19, 2015, from complications related to heart disease. Reed was born on January 10, 1936, and raised in Preston, Idaho, by Verl Roper and Hilva Olson Fellows. After experiencing many adventures growing up in Preston and graduating from Preston High School, Reed joined the U.S. Navy on December 1954. In the spring of 1956, he married Josephine Godderidge, and they had two children together: David and Mary Jo. Reed and Josephine divorced in 1960. In 1962, while on leave from his U.S. Navy service, Reed met Marlene Haslam, from Dayton, Idaho, at the Corner Café in Preston. Reed asked Marlene to go with him to a movie in Logan, Utah; two weeks later, on December 7, 1962, they were married! Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. Reed and Marlene went on a honeymoon to Hawaii and ended up being stationed there for 18 months. They also lived in Seattle, Washington, when Reed was stationed on an ice breaker in the North and South Pole. The last place Reed and Marlene lived before moving back to Preston was Virginia Beach, Virginia. After traveling the country with Reed, Marlene settled in Preston in 1971, while Reed c! ontinued to tour the world until he retired from the U.S. Navy in April 1974. Following his U.S. Navy retirement, Reed was employed at Presto Products in Lewiston, Utah, as an electrician until his retirement in 1999. Family was one of Reed's greatest treasures. He and Marlene raised five children, who were so very important to him. Reed always wanted the best for his children, and tried to help and encourage them throughout his life. He enjoyed telling people about his children, their accomplishments, and sharing how proud he was of them. In more recent years, Reed experienced much joy from spending time with his grandchildren. Reed always looked forward to being with his children and grandchildren or even just grandchildren or even just receiving a phone call from them; it was one of the simplest ways to make him happy. His family will miss him immensely; we wish we could have one more moment to spend with him to say goodbye. Reed was an avid fisherman throughout his life and tied fishing flies as a hobby for many years. He reveled in spending time on the water to fish and bringing friends and family to join him. He was sure to be found fishing several times each week during every season of the year until his health prevented him from doing so. He enjoyed being with people, was a good and caring friend, and had a great sense of humor. Reed's humor and joking will be one of the things we will miss most about him. Reed was preceded in death by his parents, Verl and Hilva Fellows, his father- and mother-in-law, David and Myrna Haslam, and his brother and sisterin-law, Don and Esther Fellows and his ex-wife Josephine and their infant daughter, Mary Jo Fellows. He is survived by his five children: David (Kaylene) Fellows, Orofino, Idaho; Tim (Teresa) Fellows, Preston, Idaho; Ron (Jamie) Fellows, Logan, Utah; Suzanne Fellows, Logan, Utah; and Carol (John) Kirkpatrick, Pocatello, Idaho. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Geneva Fellows, Las Vegas, Nev.; his brothers and sister-in-laws: Lloyd and Delores Haslam (Crow Heart, Wyo.); Bob and Shirley Haslam (Tooele, Utah); and Carl and Kathy Haslam (Thatcher, Idaho); 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. During the funeral, Reed's family will have time for friends and family to share their memories of Reed to celebrate his life and express what he meant to them. We want to hear your stories so we have the memories to keep with us. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015, at 12 p.m., in the Preston Third Ward Chapel, 155 N. 2nd West, Preston, Idaho, with Bishop Ron Smellie conducting. Friends may call Thursday, March 26, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 East, Preston, Idaho, and Friday, March 27, 2015, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Dayton, Idaho, Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, or another charity of your choice in Reed's name. Lynene Larson PRESTON, IDAHO - On the spring morning of April 13, 1938, a beautiful golden-haired, blue-eyed baby girl, Dorothy Lynene Larson, began the family of Lynn Alma and Dorothy Bench Larson. Right from the beginning she was full of spunk, as her future siblings can attest! She spent a few growing years in Wellsville until her family relocated to Preston, Idaho. She attended the local schools graduating from Preston High School as a straight A student with the proud graduating class of 1956. After high school she worked in Salt Lake at the phone company until her marriage to Varnell John Dobson in April of 1961. They were later divorced. To this union her two sons, Christopher L and Darren Varnell were born. Lynene was full of talent. She could sew, paint, decorate...she was an artist in every sense. She made many friends with her frequent visits to the "DI" searching for antiques. She could see beauty in what some would consider junk. She brought these "treasures" home with the idea of restoration. She was a friend to all and dearly loved her family, especially her two sons and three precious grandchildren. They were her entire life. She left this earthly life on March 19, 2015 to reunite with loved ones gone before. She is survived by her two sons: Chris and Darren; three grandchildren: Dustin, Brooklyn and Hailey; siblings: Rodney (Linda) Larson, Patricia Gyllenskog, Debbie Woytko and Melanie (Stewart) Bastian; a sister-in-law, Betsey Larson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Richard; brother-in-law, Dan B Gyllenskog and a life-long friend and soul mate, Dav Frew. He was surrounded by his loved ones, who will miss him so much. He was born on the 4th of July, 1952, in Soda Springs, Idaho, to Alden and Leda Beckstead. His mother watched the fireworks that night in celebration of his birth, and his children grew up thinking everyone in America had fireworks for their Daddy's birthday. He survived a childhood with five rough-and-tumble brothers. They were let loose in the morning and expected to be home for supper. He learned to love the outdoors as a child and later would tell many, many stories about his childhood adventures. Randy stole the hand of his high school sweetheart, Karen, right out from under her Dad's nose and whisked her off to Germany, where he was serving in the Army. They grew up together because they married so young. In 1982, they took their young family to be sealed in the Logan, Utah temple. He remained a faithful, active member of the Latter-day Saint church throughout his life, even enduring working in the Scouting program so that his boys would all become Eagle Scouts. Randy was a devoted father and grandfather to his four children and 11 grandchildren. He taught them to appreciate Harleys, fire pits and hot dog roasts, Coke thirty, finding bears and Yellowstone National Park. He was so proud of his children and was positive his grandkids were the best-looking, smartest, most amazing kids on this earth. He always joked about driving 106 with his "long legs," but the only thing that was ever 106 was the temperature on his truck. He worked for Rocky Mountain Power for over 35 years, making friends in Idaho, Utah and Wyoming. He retired two years ago and spent every day making happy memories with his sweetheart. Randy is survived by his loving wife, Karen, daughter Tina Larsen, sons Thane (Janae), Lucas (Kelly) and Dan (Nicole), 10 grandchildren, his father-in-law Gene Rasmussen, his brothers Dean (Sherrie), Von (Mary), Ted (Sheryl) and Tony. His sisters-in-law Beth Rasmussen and Cathy Rasmussen. He was preceded in death by his parents Alden and Leda Beckstead, brother Dennis, mother-in-law Artie Rasmussen, brotherin-law Grant Rasmussen and his grandson Zach Larsen. I grew up in Preston, Idaho on a farm during the depression where hard work was required even of young children. I grew up as a tomboy and attended Preston High School. I married Paul J. Johnson on May 24, 1944 in the Logan LDS Temple and moved to the Johnson family farm. When Paul was drafted into the Army I followed him from base to base. In the 1950's we moved to Salt Lake City, then Sandy, and finally retired in Centerville. We raised three children and were very proud of their accomplishments. I was always active in the LDS Church, serving 25 years in the Primary, 11 of which I served as a Counselor. The following years I served as Work Director, Activities Chairman, Visiting Teacher, and completed a two-year home mission at the Family Name Center. I enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, and creating beautiful things for my home. I also loved garage sales and acquired an ext! ensive knowledge of antiques. I left my earthly home on March 11th and was reunited with my eternal companion, Paul, and all family members who have preceded me. Wilma was loved by her many friends and family. She had a gift of making friends everywhere she went. She is survived by her three children, David Johnson (Penelope), Valerie Francis (Doyle), and Silvia Ann Johnson, eleven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. He spent 96 years on this earth fulfilling that part of the plan of life and salvation in which he believed so implicitly. Ross was born to Rawson Lamoni Taylor and Eliza Allen Taylor in October of 1918, and grew up on a farm in Preston, Idaho. It was there that he met and married his High School sweetheart, Zelda Dunkley Taylor in June of 1941. Ross and Zelda enjoyed 69 years of companionship, and together experienced much of the joy, excitement, and heartache that comes with mortality. Ross was the proud father of two children, Scott R. Taylor, and Linda Taylor Bills, and completely enjoyed his roll as Grandpa to seven grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Ross was preceded in death by his loving wife Zelda, his daughter Linda, his parents, and his two sisters Helen Wadsworth, and Marjorie Felsted. He will now find great joy in being reunited with his loved ones who have gone before. While serving a church mission in the northwestern states, Ross discovered a passion for working with people, and unexpectedly found his life-long profession with the Boy Scouts of America. Over the span of 42 years he worked to build and grow the Boy Scout organization in regions across the United States, and ended his career in Salt Lake City where he served for 12 years as Area Director, and National Director of the Boy Scouts for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ross loved his work, and continued serving in the BSA as a volunteer many years after his retirement, during which time he was awarded the Silver Beaver, and honored as a Veteran Scout, having been registered with the BSA for over 75 years. Ross enjoyed serving in many capacities in the LDS church throughout his life. One such cherished assignment was serving as director and host of the Oakland, California Temple with his wife Zelda. They later went on to fill two service missions at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a great example of steadiness, and consistency, and on many occasions bore powerful testimony of the restored gospel. Ross Taylor was a great father, companion, friend, and grandfather, and will be remembered as a kind and understanding man by all who were privileged to know and work with him.
