Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 3, 2005 at the Meridian Cemetery. Friends may call to visit with the family prior to the services on Friday at Relyea Funeral Chapel from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. John was born July 24, 1921 in Nephi, Utah to James Elmer and Fonda McPherson Tolley. Shortly thereafter they moved to Pocatello, Idaho where he spent his youth. He married Shirley Kay Millward on May 6, 1939. He worked for Mountain Bell installing phone lines across Wyoming and down in Texas. He served in the Navy on an LST during World War II. They lived in Pocatello and Soda Springs until 1957 when they moved to this area. He worked for United Air Lines as a Station Agent until his retirement in 1983. He then worked part time for Hobson Elevator Company. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed working with the young men in the Boy Scouts, trap shooting, reading, woodworking and carving. Family members treasure his carved Santa's. Surviving him are two children, Lynda (Roger) Humpherys of Soda Springs, and Mike (Peg) Tolley of San Jose, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; his brother, Ron (Margene) Tolley of Eagle; a sister, Sharon (Reid) Stevenson of Fruit Heights, Utah; a brother-in-law, Allen (Katy) Staley of Blackfoot; two sisters-in-law, Sharlene (Ted) Kinney of Salt Lake City and Patsy Tolley of Diamond Bar, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. His wife, Shirley; a brother, Dee Tolley; and his parents preceded him in death. We wish to express our thanks to those who called and visited during his illness. Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts or Four Rivers Hospice.
