He was born Aug. 17, 1910, in Smithfield, Utah, the son of Robert Riches and Sarah Lovisa Kelsey Weeks. They moved to Grace, Idaho, in 1913, where he lived until 2003, when he moved to Twin Falls to be near his daughter. Richard married Verda Roholt on Feb. 18, 1935. They were married 65 years. Mr. Weeks was drafted in 1944, and found himself going overseas, serving in France, Germany and Luxembourg, where he was taken prisoner by the Germans. Upon liberation, Bob recalled two soldiers from Pennsylvania carrying him to the safety of American troops. Bob was a 60-year lifetime member of the American Legion, served two terms on the Grace City Council, and was very active in his community and church. He is survived by his daughters, Gloria Dawn (LeRoy) Harr of Twin Falls, Lorraine (Bill) Meckem of DuBois, Wyo.; son-in-law, Kay Egbert of Malad, Idaho; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Reed of Salt Lake City, Alice Trappett of Grace, Idaho, and Fay Bennett of Preston, Idaho; his brother, Roy Weeks of Moab, Utah, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verda, daughter, Janice, and sister, Audrey Hill. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2005, at the Grace, Idaho, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will follow in the Grace Cemetery. Friends may call at the church Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Services are under the direction of White Mortuary, Chapel by the Park, in Twin Falls.
