Orndorff, age 83, Twin Falls native and former longtime resident, died peacefully in his sleep Monday night, June 6, 2005, at his residence in Soda Springs. A World War II veteran, Bob joined the Navy on Dec. 31, 1941, following the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor working as an aircraft mechanic for the duration of the war. Following World War II, Bob returned to Twin Falls, met and married Helen Bailey, worked in local dry cleaning establishments and learned the "dry cleaning" business. He and Robert Tucker leased a building and equipped a dry cleaning plant, 5 Point Cleaners, at the west five-point intersection, west of town. In 1950, Bob opened a dry cleaning plant in Arco (Arco Cleaners), one in Afton, Wyo., in 1955 (Afton Cleaners), and one in Soda Springs in 1960 (Bob's Cleaners). The Soda Springs operation proved to be the most profitable, so the other shops were liquidated and the Soda Springs cleaners was operated by Bob until he retired in 1995. Bob Orndorff was preceded in death by his parents, Edward (Ed) and Laura (Nellie) Orndorff of Twin Falls; his wife, Helen of Soda Springs; a sister, Iris; and a younger brother, Louis. Survivors include his wife, Florene of Soda Springs; sisters, Marge of Soda Springs and Virginia and Betty, both of Twin Falls; two stepsons, Mark Lind of Soda Springs and Bruce Lind of Idaho Falls; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2005, at the Soda Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Diller officiating. Interment will be at the Soda Springs Cemetery immediately following the funeral. • Published Friday, June 10, 2005
