She was born Aug. 29, 1910, at Lago, Idaho, the daughter of John Calvin and Sine Swensen Fowler. She married William P. Gunnell Dec. 8, 1931, in Soda Springs. Mr. Gunnell passed away March 14, 1963. Donna was raised and educated in Lago, riding horses several miles each day to school. She graduated from the 8th grade at Thatcher School. Donna and her husband purchased a farm near Soda Springs in 1933. She loved working on the farm with her husband and continued to work the farm after his death with the help of her family. Donna was able to take care of herself and live in her home until she was 93 years old. She enjoyed cooking, and liked to prepare meals for her friends and family. She also enjoyed sewing, working in her yard and going shopping. She loved going on trips. Donna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by a son, Owen and Gaye Gunnell, Soda Springs, five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Afton Hopkins, four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, May 10, at the Soda Springs LDS Stake Center with Bishop Randall Hubbard officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday at the Stake Center from 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to service. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
