Thought some of our new members would like to see this and us old members might like to see it again. :) To see the growth in the United States between 1650 and 1983? This is a great visual. http://www.ac.wwu.edu/~stephan/Animation/us.gif Just a reminder. You can unsubscribe from any or all of the rootsweb lists you are on from it. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
Dear List Members: I just want to take a moment to remind you that you should never give information on living persons in your messages without their permission or the permission of their parents if they are children. The most important reason for this is the right to privacy. You also need to remember that anything you post goes into the archives of that list and stays there. It cannot be removed but it can be copied and added to any ones site out there in the world of the internet. This may not seem real important, but I promise it will become so when you are surfing the web one day and come across a site with your children's names, grandchildren's names, where they live and how old they are. I continue to thank you for your support. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
Dear List: I have updated my IDAHO CONNECTIONS page to include the following: The Bonneville County Historical Society The Kootenai County Genealogical Society The Idaho Falls Family History Center The Pocatello Family History Center The Meridian South Family History Center Happy Surfing! Dear List Members, here it is, time for the First Quarterly Report for 2001. Can you believe how fast the time has passed? Please take note of my new e-mail address, kathleenburnett@earthlink.net and change your address books, the old efortress.com account will be closed by the end of the month. The IDCARIBO Mailing List has 9 members, 4 on the Regular list and there are 5 members on the Digest List. If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/. Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fuller's Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search. Just a reminder so this list is better for each of us the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc. (in other words - spam) is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at kathleenburnett@earthlink.net There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 2. If you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as the first message from a members says Says "Happy Birthday John" and then John says "Thank you" and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday John". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. If you have a doubt ask me. kathleenburnett@earthlink.net I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and yourwillingness to help make this list the success it is. Dear List Members, I belong to many mailing list besides the ones I am List Mom for. I had a real eye opener this weekend on several of them and it made me appreciate each of you more than you will ever know. I saw members putting each other down, demeaning one another, screaming at each other if one could scream via an e-mail. I saw new members leave because they were made to feel foolish only because they did not know the rules of the list. I feel blessed to be the List Mom of your list and I thank you with all of my heart for the manner in which you handle yourselves on it and for the way you treat each other. Because of each of you I am able to take care of as many lists and I do - and love each and every moment of it. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
Dear List Members, I will always be glad to help you unsubscribe if you have a problem or even if you have forgotten how, but just as a reminder if you go to Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ and type in your e-mail address and ask for a list of all Rootsweb lists you belong to, you will, within a few moments receive it via e-mail. You can unsubscribe from any or all of the rootsweb lists you are on from it. I thank you for your continued support. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
Dear List Members, Rootsweb is slowly coming back. The messages are beginning to trickle through. We are not able to get on Rootsweb.com or am I able to get into the List Utility pages. Password Central is not available either. Before long now we will be back to normal though. Just a few items I would like to bring to your attention. 1. In the course of a day I receive many requests to help members unsubscribe. Before you ask me to help, which I am always happy to do, send on the word UNSUBSCRIBE to XXXXXXX-L-REQUEST@ROOSTWEB.COM (XXXXXX being the name of your list.) If that does not work, then you can go to Password Central and ask for a list of all mailing lists you are subscribed to. You will receive an e-mail posting of these lists and you can unsubscribe from it. http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ 2. Please check your subject line when sending back to the entire list. Make sure it covers the subject of your posting. The very person you want to read it may just delete it if you are looking for the history of John Smith and the subject line talks about burial place of Isaac Kirkpatrick. 3. If you are responding to a message, please delete some of the past postings from the bottom on your e-mail. After there has been several responses the amount of un-needed information that tags along is causing many of our members problems with the size the e-mail becomes. Again, thank you for your support of me and of the list rules. It is because of each of you that this list is the success it is. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
Dear List Members, Starting at 8 a.m. PST Friday, February 23, RootsWeb will begin a planned temporary downtime for maintenance of its servers and hosting process. It will limit this downtime as much as possible, and will return with increased performance and reliability for future growth. The down time will be about 24 hours. If you do not receive any postings during this time do not worry, all will be back up and running soon. Your List Mom is going to take a 24 hours nap. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
My name is Kathleen Burnett and I am your new List Mom. I want to take a moment and let you know who I am and a little about myself. I am a mother of four and grandmother of nine. I work outside of the home during the day. I am a list Mom to several other Mailing Lists and am very actively involved in my own family research. I am a hands on List Mom, meaning I keep track of what is going on with the mailing list. If you are ever in need of me during the day, while at work, you can reach me at kburnet@wardleygmac.com - in the evenings or on Sunday I can be reached at kburnet@efortress.com My goal for your list is to keep it a safe place for you to research your Caribou Co., Idaho surnames and history. Safe meaning a place where you are not subject to postings other than posting related to the subject of the list. I look forward to getting to know each of you in the future. Good evening! I would like to take the time to introduce you to a site that has a lot of links about Idaho. It is called "The Research Network". The front or main page contains many valuable research tools for the overall United States. The second page called IDAHO CONNECTIONS deals with topics that are strictly related to Idaho. I am in the process of making a user friendly map which will contain all of the counties and county seats. I will keep you posted when that gets online. Regards, Juvanne Clezie The Research Network http://www.researchnetwork.net
