Has everyone heard that Ancestry is closing down the Rootsweb mailing lists in March? Is the admin of this list going to try and migrate the group somewhere else? We have started a new Idaho Genealogy message board/mailing list at "Groups.io" ( https://groups.io/g/IdahoGenealogy ) We want to place links to any county groups or specialized Idaho lists or groups on the home page. Of Course, anyone interested in Idaho genealogy is encouraged to join this new group I hope to hear from you RandyC
I've "rescued" an old family photograph of the Charles GENASCI Family of Nevada City, CA which was taken at the C. Uberto Studio in San Francisco, CA. Family members are named as follows: Front row left to right - Fritz, Charles Jr., William, and Henry GENASCI Back row left to right - Florence, Josephine, Mr. Charles GENASCI, Mary, Annie, Mrs. GENASCI, Fred, and Carrie GENASCI The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's and is framed in a traditional frame which appears to date back to that time. Those pictured in the photograph range in age from about 4 years to parents in their 40's. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family: Charles Carlo Ambrogio GENASCI was b. 4 Mar 1831 in Ariolo, Switzerland to parents Carlo Ambrogio GENASCI (1796-1963) and Guisesspa LOMBARDI (1797-1836). Charles was married to Florinda (1843-1919) on 30 Jan 1865 in Nevada City, CA and he died 9 Sept 1909 in Nevada County, CA and is buried at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Nevada City, CA. Florinda or Florida GUSCETTI b. 16 Sept 1843 in Degio, Switzerland to Maria BOHLING (b. 1821). The couple had Florinda (Mrs. Charles GENASCI) died 19 Jan 1919 in Nevada City, CA and is buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Nevada City, CA. The couple had 10 children including, Carolina; Mary Ann; Fred Jeremiah; Josephine; Annie; Florence Mamie; Fritz; Charles George; Henry; and William B. GENASCI, all born between 1866 and 1881 in Nevada City, CA. Carolina or Caroline M. GENASCI was b. 6 Feb 1866 in Nevada City, CA. She was married more than once, first to John Henry FINNEN (1855-1885) and after his death she married Giovanni Domenico John CORGIAT (1858-1936) and together they had 4 children including, Flora Agnes; Stephen Albert; John Charles; and Eugene "Gene" Wager CORGIAT, all born between 1889 and 1894. The couple was living in Berkely, CA during the 1910 census and in Oakland, CA in the 1920 census and then after that in Seattle, WA. Carolina died 23 Mar 1954 in Seattle, WA. Mary Ann GENASCI was b. 7 Feb 1867 in Willow Valley, CA and married John Andrew RAMSEY (b. 4 Dec 1859 in Carson City, NV - d. 12 Oct 1929 in Sacramento, CA) on 6 Jan 1890 in Nevada City, CA. The couple had 10 children including, Sadie Florence; Charlie James; Frederick J.; Jessie; Norval Douglass; Rolland; William; Lawrence L.; Virginia Alberta; and one other, all born between 1890 and 1914. She died 16 Sept 1960 in Sacramento, CA. Mary Ann's children are detailed as follows: Norval Douglass RAMSEY (b. 1897) married Hazel SHELETON (b. 1901) Charles James RAMSEY (1891-1977) married Evelyn (b. 1895) Frederick John RAMSEY (b. 1893) married Mattie MILLER (b. 1897) Rolland RAMSEY (b. 1899) Sadie Florence RAMSEY (1890-1980) married John Morris EUSTIS (b. 1886) William RAMSEY (b. 1902) Lawrence Leroy RAMSEY (1906-1972) Virginia Alberta RAMSEY (1910-1910) Jessie RAMSEY (1895-1965) Fred J. GENASCI was b. 4 Mar 1868 in Nevada City, CA. His occupation was noted as Merchant at the time of his death on 21 Jul 1906 in Roslyn, WA. Fred was later buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Nevada City, CA. Josephine GENASCI was b. Oct 1869 in Nevada City, CA and married William LAMBARDINE or LAMBERDINE on 24 May 1888 in Nevada City, CA. The couple had at least 4 children including, Pete; Kate; William Jr.; and Annie and were living in Bonanza, ID during the 1900 census and then in Ketchum, ID during the 1920 census. Annie GENASCI was b. abt 1871 in Nevada City, CA and married George H. ISOLARD or ISOARD (son of Alphonsus ISOARD) on 7 Jan 1890 in Nevada City, CA. Fritz was a Miner working in the Empire Mine in Grass Valley, CA when he registered for the WWI Draft in 1918. Fritz died on 16 Mar 1924 in Nevada City, CA. Charles George GENASCI was b. 24 Oct 1876 and married Celia MUSCARDINI on 22 Jul 1903 in Nevada City, CA and together they had 4 children including, Florence; Josephine; Verna; and Cecilia GENASCI, all born between 1905 and 1913. Charles died 17 Jul 1957 in Nevada City, CA and is buried in the Forest View Cemetery in Nevada City, CA. Henry G. GENASCI was b. 21 Mar 1878 and died 7 Mar 1895 in Nevada County, CA. I'm hoping to be able to return the framed photograph to family and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be. Thanks, Shelley

Seek the burial place of John Joseph Thamm, died in Hailey on 7-29-1917, at age 35 years. He may be buried at Hailey Cemetery, where his parents and some siblings are buried, but the cemetery has no record of his burial there. If there is a Catholic section of the Hailey Cemetery, his parents may be buried there but he may not be buried there because he may have left the Catholic Church. Or he may be buried in Mackay, Custer County, Idaho, where he had operated a butcher shop. His wife was Estella (or Stella) Morgan, whom he married in 1905 in Mackay, Idaho; she later married George J. Roessler and died in 1970 at age 84 years at Spokane, WA, where she is buried. John Joseph Thamm was the grandfather of my brother-in-law. Ronald Decker, Chicago

Could have been at the same time, or at separate times. In those days, it would take a long time to get between the two cities. Shoshone used to be a major railroad stop, so a hotel would have been a good business to have had there. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Will check out the McFall Hotel in Shoshone as they had built the International Hotel in Bellevue, and my not knowing anything on Idaho will check and see if this is one and same or two separate enterprises for them. Surrounding Neighboring Counties "From the northern-tip is Boise, follow by the northwestern side with Custer and Butte, and on the western side is Bingham and Powers, and then on the southeastern side are Elmore, Camas, Lincoln, Minidoka and Cassia." This is actually incorrect. From the northern-tip is Boise County. From Boise County, the Counties are northeastern side with Custer and Butte, eastern side is Bingham and Powers, and then south from Boise County on the West side are Elmore andCamas, followed by Lincoln, Minidoka and Cassia on the South Side. I'm looking for stories, biographies, and photos of women miners of Idaho since the early territorial days to the 20th century. These women could have been prospectors, miners, or just one of the titleholders to any mine claims. If you have a female ancestor(s) who pursued this industry, whether alone or a part of any mining company, then I would love to hear about your ancestor’s experience. I am trying to gather as much information on women miners as a part of my graduate research project. Please contact me at matthew.d.friend@gmail.com. Thank you for your time.
