Passey, loving husband, father and grandfather died tragically from injuries received in a house fire on December 7, 2005, He was born in the small farming community of Lanark, Idaho, son of Melvin Jay and Lula Daisy Smith Passey. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Norma Long Passey, whom he married September 12, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. As a youth he worked many long hours alongside his father in the family farming and dairy business. He graduated from Fielding HIgh School in Paris, ID and attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, ID. During his junior year in college he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and flew in the B-17 as a bottom turret gunner. He started his family in Lanark, ID moving to Roy, UT in 1952. He retired from the U.S. Post Office after 38 years of service. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a skilled carpenter he found great satisfaction in helping his children build their homes. He also enjoyed following the stock market. Mirl and Norma enjoyed getting together with a special group of friends to socialize and play cards. Prior to his death, Mirl dedicated his life to the care of his wife and provided for her every need. His loving and compassionate care will be sorely missed. Mirl and Norma have three children: Clinton J. (Margarete) Passey, Arlington, VA; Carol (Hudson) England, Afton, WY; Douglas l. (Shirley) Passey, Morgan, UT. They have 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. His is also survived by one sister, Bernice Gauer, and one brother, J. Bruce Passey. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Smith Passey. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 12, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Roy 3rd Ward Chapel, 5930 South 2200 West. Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
