Oral was the eldest child born to Ida Irene Merritt and David Calder on August 14, 1916, in Garden City, Utah. She married Lynn T. Pope May 9, 1936. They had one son Lynn C. Lutz. She then married Glenn Adelbert Lutz on July 25, 1940. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah, Temple on March 8, 1944. Oral worked at various businesses in the Garden City community. She also served in many church callings. The most recent was the Sunday School secretary. She was also the correspondent for the Garden City news for the News Examiner. She started when Jerry Taylor owned the newspaper. Her greatest enjoyment was her family, and she loved their company. Oral is survived by three of her sons, Kay (Crystal) Lutz of Smithfield, Utah, Bob (Ann) Lutz of Montpelier, Idaho, and Ray (Sue) Lutz of Garden City; 13 grandchildren; 42 greatgrandchildren; her brother, Robert Calder of Garden City; and her sister, Lois Erickson of Ogden, Utah. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lynn T. Pope; her husband, Glen A. Lutz; her eldest son, Lynn C. Lutz; and another son, David Fred Lutz; her parents, David and Ida Irene Merritt Calder; a brother, Gale David Calder; and two sisters, Elma Calder Nichols and Betty Gaye Calder Hansen. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at noon in the Garden City Chapel, where friends may visit with family that morning from 10 to 11:45 a.m. The interment will be in the Garden City Cemetery.
