Evelyn was born Dec. 13, 1917, in Lanark, Idaho, to Ernest and Margretha Rosen Egli. She married Garth Whiting on Sept. 7, 1934, in the Salt Lake Temple, and to this union six children were born; three now living and three deceased. Every day Evelyn loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. She worked for many years at the B & B Market for her son, Barry. Evelyn enjoyed visiting her neighbors, canning, cooking, sight-seeing and playing pinocle. She was always watching out for others. Evelyn is survived by her children, Sherma (Billy) Zimmerman, Barry (Sheryl) Whiting and Tim (Stacey) Whiting, all of Rupert; 11 grandchildren, Patti (Gene) Egbert, Jana (Terry) Hunt, Sallie Smith, Penny Courtright, Molly (Jim) Pelton, Amy (Gerald) Alexander, Hillary (Mike) Horgan, Brooke (Stetson) Weber, Jeremy Whiting, Kara Whiting and Kord Whiting; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garth; one son, Al; two infant children; one grandson, Todd; one great-grandson, Gage; three brothers; and five sisters. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2006, at the Rupert LDS 1st Ward church, with Bishop Stacey Camp officiating. Burial will follow at the Rupert Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel, 710 Sixth St., and one hour before the service Monday at the church.
