Aileen was born Aug. 25, 1912, in Wellsville, Utah, to Harold Swift and Mabel Leatham. She attended schools in Montpelier and Paris, Idaho, Wellsville, and graduated from Logan High School. On June 1, 1933, she married William T. Barker. They resided in Newton, Utah, where they raised their two daughters, Carolyn and Diane. The family enjoyed a close, loving relationship. Bill and Aileen owned and operated Barker's IGA Grocery Store in Newton. After her husband, Bill, died in 1975, she worked at USU's High Rise and later as hostess at the Sky Room. There, her cheerful, witty way caught the attention of Carlton Culmsee and they were married Feb. 14, 1979. Aileen retired and moved into Carlton's home in Logan. Carlton and Aileen were very happy together and when he died in 1993, she was once again very lonely. At the age of 83, she rekindled an acquaintance with Alan Longacre of Whittier, Calif. They were married May 3, 1996. Aileen and Alan shared a special companionship in their senior years. Aileen had a great zest for life. She had a lovely soprano voice and sang many solos all over Cache Valley. Her love of music was evident in the way she directed choirs and congregations of the Newton and her Logan LDS churches into her 83rd year. It has been said the most important thing in life is to learn to love. Her life exemplified "Love One Another." Aileen will be tremendously missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Barker and Carlton Culmsee; a brother, Dean Swift; a daughter, Carolyn Talbot; and grandsons, Bill and Steven Talbot. Survivors include husband, Alan Longacre; daughter, Diane B. Patton (Nephi); and grandchildren, Laurie Howell (Clay), Todd Talbot, Dan Talbot, Jennilyn Talbot, Cody Patton (Karen), Jaimy Patton (Sarah), Lance Patton (Terra) and Tammi S. McLaughlin (Eric). Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, Aug. 4, at Lundstrom Park Ward, 1260 N. 1600 East, Logan. Viewings will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., Logan, and from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. on Thursday prior to services at Lundstrom Park Ward. Interment will be in the Newton City Cemetery
