He was born Feb. 9, 1913, in Driggs, Idaho. He was the son of Arthur and Sarah Eames Tippets. He married Thelma Porter on Nov. 9, 1938, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Dec. 12, 1941. He then married Luella Guymon on Sept. 11, 1942, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Jan. 12, 1989. He received his early education in Driggs, Idaho, moving to Pocatello, Idaho, in 1929, graduating from the Pocatello High School and the Southern Branch of the University of Idaho. He graduated from the University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho, in 1936 with a BS Degree in Forestry. He retired in 1973 after working for the US Forest Service for 37 years. He was a district ranger on the Manti National Forest in Utah, stationed at Ephraim, Utah, then as a district ranger on the Caribou Forest stationed at Idaho Falls, Idaho. His next district was on the Bridger Forest with headquarters at Afton, Wyo. His last district was on the Cache Forest, stationed at Paris, Idaho. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in various positions for many years. He and his wife, Luella, filled a full time mission to the Rochester New York Mission from 1977 to 1979. He is survived by three sons, Karl Guymon (Marie) of Thayne, Wyo., Gerald Vaughan (Joan) of Salem, Ore., David Wayne of Ft. Collins, Colo.; two daughters, Thelma Rich (Dan) of Bountiful, Utah, and Carolyn Hymas, (Terrell D.) of Walla Walla, Wash. One sister, Elean Hawks; five brothers, Harold R., A. Merlin, Thero E., David S., J. Howard and his parents preceded him in death. A viewing will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 North, Logan, Utah, with interment at the Preston, Idaho, Cemetery.
