Grant Weston Lamborn arrived on Dec. 23, 1914, in Laketown, Utah, greeted by his parents, William John Lamborn and Effie Weston Lamborn. Grant spent his childhood on the family farm milking cows, hoeing weeds, thrashing grain, etc. Grant graduated from North Rich High School and then furthered his education with a bachelor’s degree from Utah State Agricultural College. Grant married Loa Ida Cook of Garden City, Utah, on June 7, 1939, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Grant wore many hats in his lifetime. He was a rancher, teacher, school board member, Rich County commissioner, coach, acting superintendent of Rich County School District, president of Laketown Irrigation, secretary of Rich County Land and Grazing (forever), Bear Lake Regional Commission, president of the Bear River Association of Governments (BRAG) and board member of South Bear Lake Water Users. Grant was also very active in the LDS Church. He had many callings which included ward clerk, gospel doctrine teacher, Young Men’s president, high priest group leader and his most treasured time was spent in the Logan LDS Temple, where he dedicated 30 years of service as a temple officiator. Grant’s hobbies included sporting events, watching “The Price is Right,” eating Bluebird chocolates and irrigating. Grant is survived by his wife of 67 years, Loa; three daughters and one son, ReNee McKinnon (Brent) of Tremonton, Utah, Linda Willis (Jim) of Laketown, Utah, Marilyn Asay (Larry) of Castle Rock, Colo., and David Lamborn (Sally) of Laketown, Utah; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Paul W. Lamborn (Maureen) of Rio Vista, Calif., Ellis Lamborn (Ruth) of Boise, Idaho, and Howard Lamborn (LaRue) of Laketown, Utah. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Michael “Riley” Anderson; sisters-in-law, LaRuth and LaRue; and a nephew, William John Lamborn. Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, April 21, in the Laketown Ward chapel, 115 S. 100 East, Laketown. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 North, Logan, and from 10 to 11:45 a.m. prior to services Friday at the church.
