Interment, Dry Creek Cemetery. Max was born Oct. 7, 1926, in Mink Creek, Idaho, to Harry and Sarah Rosetta Nelson Jensen. His early years were enjoyably spent on the farm with his brother, father and dog Snide. Max enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp after graduating from Preston High School. He served in the Air Force ROTC while attending college and later in the Air Force Reserve Program. As a young man, Max served a mission to the North Central States for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He graduated from the LDS Institute of Religion and Utah State University with a bachelor and a masters degree in Civil Engineering. In 1953 Max married Hilma Orton in the St. George LDS Temple. Hilma passed away from cancer in 1967. Max raised his four children alone until 1973, when he married Kaye Marie Larsen Olsen in the Logan LDS Temple. Marie brought three children with her and the birth of another child completed the family. Together they worked hard to make the two families one. Max earned the love and respect of all eight of his children. Max worked for the Idaho Department of Highways for 42 years from 1952 until he retired in 1994. He lived in Montpelier, Pocatello, Shoshone and finally Boise since 1964. After retiring, Max and Marie served two LDS missions: the Idaho Boise Mission and the New York, Rochester Mission. They also served as temple ordinance workers in the Boise Temple. Max´s life revolved around his family, church and work. He included his family in all of his hobbies and much of his work-related travel. He found great pleasure in woodworking, hiking, camping, skiing and travel, visiting all 50 states. He will be remembered by all, young and old, for his kind and thoughtful! words and deeds; his patience, honesty and integrity; his unconditional love, selfless service and uncomplaining nature; his hard work ethic and his busy, productive days; his unwavering faithfulness to his testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and his example of always fulfilling his assignments and responsibilities to the very best of his ability.
