Elsie was born November 4, 1921, in Norwick, Norfolk, England to Everett and Elsie May Coushion Gray. She married Carl Ernest Stoddard on April 28, 1945, at St. Augustine's Church of England in Norwick, Norfolk, England. She left her home of 124 Gypsy Lane, Norwick, Norfolk, England, on March 1, 1946, and arrived at the Tidworth Base that same day. On March 7, 1946 she left the Tidworth base and sailed on the Saturnia on March 8, 1946. When she arrived in New York on March 16, 1946. she was required to stay on the boat for an additional two days. She then traveled by train to Montpelier, Idaho, and from there she traveled to Georgetown, Idaho, arriving on March 21, 1946. She lived with Mom and Dad Stoddard there, until on their one- year anniversary April 28, 1946, they moved to the ranch. Born to Elsie and Carl was Kathleen Ann Stoddard May 9, 1947, David Allen Stoddard June 20, 1950, Linda Lee Stoddard March 11, 1953, and a still born baby girl on May 23, 1958. Elsie served as chairman of the Georgetown Elementary School Lunch Program for 13 years, and was also a primary teacher. Elsie enjoyed her flower garden, quilting, sewing, knitting, cooking, walking, spending time in the canyon where Carl herded the flock of sheep, and returning to England to visit with her family there. Elsie is survived by her husband Carl, daughters Kathleen Davies of Benton City, Wash., Linda (Allyn) Phelps of Bennington, Idaho, daughter-in-law Pauline of Georgetown, Idaho, sister Kathleen Ponulak of Norwick, England, brother Jack (Janet) Gray Tavenhan of Norwick, England, brother-in-law Roger (Lois) Stoddard, and Lewis Young and numerous nieces and nephews both in America and England, 13 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and five stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son David, still born daughter, half brother Everett, in-laws Josephine (Jay) Peterson, Ralph (Marge) Stoddard, Lynn (Donna) Stoddard, Darlene Young, and Jesse Stoddard. We miss you, and we love you. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 4, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Georgetown First Ward church. Friends and family may call from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the church where there will be a viewing.
