On March 30, 1945, Virginia married Lash H. Laker in the Logan LDS Temple. They celebrated almost 62 years together. Virginia had many adventures in her 80 years, living in numerous different states as well as in Germany and Bermuda. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she filled many, many callings over the years and was a gifted teacher. She and Lash served a mission to the Los Angeles Family History Center from September 1997 to September 1998. Virginia loved to read and had a very large collection of literature; this love she passed on to her family. She also enjoyed crocheting and flower arranging and never failed to decorate the graves of loved ones each Memorial Day. She shared the stories and memories of those who lived before with her family so that they will not be forgotten. Virginia was very musical and loved to play the piano for the enjoyment of her family. She also had a beautiful alto voice and sang in a trio when she was young. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, never forgetting an important date, and always remembering special events in the lives of her family. She is dearly loved and will be truly missed. Surviving are her husband Lash; one daughter and one son; Lauralee Laker (Kent) Gardner, South Ogden; Stephen Ace (Camille) Laker, Ogden; seven grandsons and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Vance Dunford Madsen. Preceding Virginia in death were her parents, her brother, Mark Alma Madsen, her grandson, Paul Gardner, three half-sisters, Louise, Ruth and Leone, and one infant half-brother, Asa.
