Surnames: Passey, Long, King Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hd.2ADI/1641 Message Board Post: The Standard-Examiner, 03/20/06 ROY -- Norma Hazel Long Passey passed peacefully on March 17, 2006 and was reunited with her loving husband of over 60 years after only a brief separation. She was born March 19, 1923 in Sharon, Idaho, a daughter of Rill Hart and Hazel King Long. She married Mirl Jay Passey on September 12, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She attended schools in Bear Lake County and graduated from Ricks College in June 1944, with a degree in Education. She taught school for two years in Idaho before moving with her young family to Utah and settled in the Ogden area. She later worked for IRS at the Ogden Service Center. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bear Lake and later in the Roy 5th and 3rd Wards, serving in various positions in all auxiliary organizations starting when she was made the secretary of the Sharon Ward Sunday School at the age of 12. She had many talents and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, oil painting and doing ceramics; sharing her creations with family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of her life and even later in life she was never too tired to play Checkers or Old Maid. Mirl and Norma have three children: Clinton J. (Margarete) Passey, Arlington, WA; Carol (Hudson) England, Afton, WY; Douglas L. (Shirley) Passey, Morgan, UT. They have 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Phyllis Roberts. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers, Richard Long and Rodney Long. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Roy 3rd Ward Chapel, 5930 South 2200 West. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Roy, 5865 South 1900 West and on Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
