Verla was born January 15, 1925 in Paris, ID to Reva and Ernest Yaussi. She grew up in Idaho. She married Glen Balls on December 30, 1952 and they traveled while he was in the Army. They later divorced. Mom loved to camp, fish, play cards, garden and watch the Jazz. Mom also loved to play with her grandchildren. She retired from HAFB BX. She was always doing something and hated to just sit around. Her church duties were the library and name extractions for the Layton 15th ward. She lived in Layton for thirty-five years until her illness (Alzheimer’s) didn’t permit her to be by herself. Mom lived with family until she needed additional care. Verla is survived by her 2 sons, Duayne (Barbara) Balls, West Point; Steven (Carolyn) Balls, Layton; sisters, Thelma (Ray) Nelson, Orlene Lund, Nathan Mills, 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 8th at 2 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Tuesday March 7th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park Layton, 1867 North Fairfield Road. e
