Marr Weir Cheney, 85, of Clearfield, Utah, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away February 12, 2006 peacefully at his home of natural causes. Marr was born in Laketown, Utah on March 24, 1920 to Claude and Ethel Weir Cheney. He grew up on a ranch in LaBarge, Wyoming, where he developed a strong work ethic, gentle spirit, charitable heart, patient mind and his love for horses grew. He served in the United States Army from 1942-1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He married his sweetheart Betty Jean Sawaya on February 21, 1945 and it was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple Feb. 20, 1964. He worked at Hill Field and was a part time barber. After retirement Marr and Betty traveled the country working for military contractors and later for the Utah Auto Auction. He loved his family, traveling, chariot racing, and working with the youth of the North Davis and West Point Jr. Posses. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years Betty, children Darla (Joe) Walker, Steven (Debbi) Cheney, Scott (Pam) Cheney, son-in-law Richard Jordan and one brother Keith Cheney. Fifteen Grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his daughter Marsha Jordan, sister Beatrice Young, and parents. Funeral services will be held Thursday February 16,2006 at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield 22nd Ward Chapel 151 North 1000 West Clearfield, Utah. Friends and family may call at Lindquist’s Clearfield Mortuary 1050 South State Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the Church.
