He was so ready to return to the presence of his Father in Heaven and the loving arms of family members who were waiting to welcome him home. Steve was born March 9, 1943, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Morton Leon and Montry May Russell Kearl. He was 63 years old and had been looking forward to the “golden years” with his high school sweetheart, LuAnn Findlay, whom he had been married to for 42 years. He worked as a conservation officer and biologist for 31 years for the state of Utah, Division of Wildlife Resources. After retiring, he decided that he was not old enough for the “golden years,” so he went to work for about eight years for Edseret Land and Livestock as a range specialist, only giving it up when his lung disease invaded his body. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several church callings throughout his life. At the time of his death he was serving as second counselor in the Young Men’s presidency in the Dingle Ward and was also serving as a home teacher. He served as an ordinance worker in the Logan, Utah Temple until his illness made it impossible to continue. He also served by working at the Family History Center in Montpelier doing name extractions for temple work for the dead. He was very involved with family genealogy and had also written his complete life history. He is survived by his wife, LuAnn; four children, Christine (Virgil) Burgess, Nancy Ann Clayton, Travis Steven (Jill) Kearl and Shawn Russell (Joyce) Kearl; 14 grandchildren; one sister, Brenda Lincoln; one brother, Jeffery (Candace) Kearl; a sister-in-law, Barbara Kearl; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, one grand-daughter, Heather, and one brother, Delbert. He had such love for his children and grandchildren and was so proud of their accomplishments in life. We will all miss him so much, but we know he is happy now and is not trapped any more in his worn-out body. Dad and Grandpa, we love you. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 15, at noon in the Dingle LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may visit with family on Sunday evening, May 14 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Matthews Mortuary and on Monday at the church from 10 to 11:45 a.m. The interment will be in the Laketown, Utah Cemetery.
