A graveside memorial service was held at Afton Wyoming Cemetery on August 12, 2006. Mabel was born November 12, 1917 to Adolphus A. Call and Sarah I. Astle in Afton, Wyoming. Her family moved to Salt Lake City in 1923. In 1939, her employer transferred her to Southern California where she eventually married Frank Preston McKibben on December 13, 1941. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1953. Most of her adult life was spent in Southern California, returning to Utah in 1977 where she resided until her death except for a few years in California with her daughter. Mabel served in various positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was employed as a secretary, administrative assistant, and professional recruiter at several businesses, finishing her career at Disneyland. She is survived by her three children, Jeannette M. Callister, R. Preston Mc Kibben, and John F. Mc Kibben, 10 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. The family expresses gratitude to the caring nurses and staff at IHC Hospice of Ogden, Avalon Care Center Bountiful, and Comfort Keepers of Ogden. Published in the Deseret News on 8/13/2006.
