She graduated from Burnsville high school. She received a B. S. degree in Recreation from Utah State University in Logan, Utah. As a Utah State Park Ranger and a Park Ranger's wife she worked and lived at Bear Lake, Deadhorse Point, and Willard Bay and for 17 years at Rockport State Park. Cindy was certified as a Recreational Therapist by the State of Utah and worked as a Recreational Therapist in Roy for six years. Cindy was a life long Girl Scout. She lived and taught Girl Scout values as a member and a leader. Cindy was also a member of Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church where she was a friend to many as she worshiped and practiced her strong faith. Cindy worked as a bus driver for Park City Transit for 17 years and was loved and respected by her fellow drivers and regular passengers as well as tourists to Park City. Cindy fought a brave fight against Leukemia. Her dedication to exercise and diet gave her body strength as she underwent her treatments. She maintained a positive attitude and was a favorite of the nursing staff as she walked around the floor and sneaked outside whenever possible. Her room was remarked on by the nurses and doctors as the most decorated ever with the many cards, flowers, family pictures and Halloween decorations. Cindy passed on to be with God, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband Steven Brent Hewson and her daughters Heidi Jane Hewson and Julie Amanda Hewson. Other family members are her parents Ervin Milton Slind and Helena Franchere Slind and her sisters Jennifer Franchere Gergen and Suzanne Franchere Spencer and their families. Preceding her in death were her grandparents Ole and Bertha Slind and Dr. Fred and Amanda Franchere. She also will be greatly missed by her husband's parents Robert and Rhea Hewson and siblings Linda Adams and Roger Hewson and their families. The Service will be Friday, November 4 at Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation from noon to 12:45. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an education fund for Julie and Heidi at Shepherd of the Mountains, 4051 N Hwy 224, Park City, Utah 84098.
