He was born July 19, 1929 to Angus Dana and Mildred Russell Porter in Sharon, Idaho. He was the third of six children. He married Dorothy Louise Anderson on November 20, 1951 in the Logan Utah Temple. They had five children. He served his country admirably in the Korean Conflict and also in Vietnam. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served diligently in many church positions. He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, sports, and most of all, spending time with his family. He had a great sense of humor and was loved and revered by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of 54 years; and four children; Marjean (Bruce) Deeben, Orem, UT, Robert Wayne (Ann) Porter, Sandy, UT, Carren Louise (Kevin) Mines, Granby, Colorado, and Michael Eugene (Janel) Porter, Farmington, UT. One brother, Gerald Porter of Murray, UT, and one sister, Loueen Nutt of Ogden, UT, 21 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Carl Dana, his parents, and three brothers. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hillcrest 5th Ward Chapel, 440 East 800 South in Orem. Family and friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street in Orem, and also Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will follow at the Orem City Cemetery with military rites provided by the VFW District #4.
