She was born on September 21, 1923, in Logan, Utah to John Michel and Margaritha Amacher Michel. She grew up in Logan and graduated from Logan High School with the class of 1942. During her youth, she spent a lot of time visiting at the home of Aunt Bertha and Uncle George Alleman on their farm at Pescadero. It was there that she met Richard R. Bischoff, who she married on November 27, 1945. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple in April of 1963. Three children were born to them, the twins Robert and Ronald, and a daughter Kathleen Ruth. They lived in Paris, Idaho, most of their married life, but spent many happy summers in Lower Bern living on the farm that they purchased from Uncle George. She loved the old log farmhouse and while living in it demonstrated her great skill as a cook and homemaker by keeping it immaculately clean even though the house was lacking in modern conveniences and by being able to bake perfect pies, cakes and bread in an old wood-burning stove that lacked an oven thermometer. In later years, she would often say that the days spent living down on the farm were among the very happiest of her life. Richard passed away March 29, 1965, and she later married Doyr Cornelison in September of 1968 and moved to Bennington. Ryta and Doyr traveled extensively and for many years spent their winters in Arizona. She was widowed a second time when Doyr died in August of 1996. Ryta loved to read and learn about history. She was an excellent cook and homemaker. She was very talented with embroidery. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ryta had a giving heart and was known for her kindness and compassion. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several positions in Primary and Relief society. She was a Visiting Teacher for many years until it became too difficult because of her worsening arthritis. Ryta worked for a short while in the school lunch program in Paris, Idaho. Also, she was and honorary member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Ryta is survived by two children and three stepchildren, Robert (Bobbi Sue) Bischoff of Oak Grove, Missouri, Kathy (Stuart) Crane of Bennington, Idaho, Paul (Karen) Lanham of Silverton, Oregon, Tab Cornelison of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Karla El Fenni of Tanger, Morocco, Africa; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Esther Kirkham, Magdalena Michel, Norma Reese, Betty Needham and Ruth Woodruff; and two brothers, John Michel and George Michel. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, one brother, Eugene, one stepson, Spencer Cornelison and one son, Ronald Bischoff. Funeral services are scheduled on Friday, June 17, at noon in the Bennington LDS Chapel, where friends may call that morning from 10 until 11:45 a.m. The interment will be in the Paris Cemetery with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier.
